It’s hard to live in a country that’s in a war, That’s why you have to immigrate to America. Me and my Brother were separated when we were toddlers.
I ended up going to America while he stayed in Yemen because he did not have a passport. We were apart for 5 years, and during all that time my mom divorced my dad, and my dad had to go back to Yemen to take care of him.
And when my brother turned nine, my dad finally decided to get him a passport and get him to America.
He First had to get to an airport, but the airport was closed due to war, so he sailed to Djibouti, he was told that “the boat was gonna be a luxurious, very big boat”.
But when he got there he told me that “it was small, very dirty, And was crowded with obese people”. And once he got to Djibouti he said: ” that it was hot to the point where he wanted to leave on that day”.
During that time my grandparents were going to America too, and they decided that they would stay together and travel to America together. But that did not happen, my grandparents went ahead and got to America before him.
They have stayed in Djibouti for a month and my dad was getting cracky and wanted to get back to Yemen fast, my brother said: “I got scared and secretly called my mom, I told her that my dad was thinking about taking me back to Yemen.”
My mom found out that her uncle was also migrating to America and begged him to take my brother with him, and he agreed. So my dad gave my brother to my mom’s uncle and he got my brother a passport and they travelled to America.
They landed at Washington D.C and from there they travelled to Dearborn, and now we live a good life together.
