Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a small family if you’re part of a larger family? Most people prefer a smaller family because of the problems of large families. Many people don’t know is that there is a lot benefits that come with a big family.
Steve Drinkert, a Language Arts teacher at Unis MIddle School has a big family. He has 5 kids, a nephew that lives with him, and his wife that he needs to support. After asking Mr. Drinkert about how he budgets his money he says, ”the first thing my wife and I do is set aside money for the bills like, the car payments and house payment etc…. Then we also put aside money for food and all the supplies we need for the house.”
According to Statista.com the average number of people per family in the United States in 2016 is 3.14 people per household. 3 people in a family is considered having a small family, a mom and dad and one child. Jawad Anani an 8th grader at Unis Middle school says”That it feels good to be an only child because I get whatever I want but sometimes it gets lonely at home because I have no one there”. April Kincaid a teacher at Unis Middle school says”I liked growing up as an only child.” She also said that “big families spend a lot more on clothes,products for the house,for food and transportation. Which in my family we do not spend that much.”
Samir Dakhlallah, an assistant principal at Unis Middle School has a medium size family. He has 3 kid plus him and his wife. Mr.Dakhlallah says, “how I budget my money is that I make sure that i insure the fact that I have my needs which is my house payment also food, water, shelter and space. Then I spend the difference of my money trying to educate my kids. After my kids are educated we have a little lit bit of money for wants, and obviously I put away a little bit of money incas of a rainy day.
In today’s society , not so many people have big families.Budgeting for a large family seems extremely tough. Having enough money for a large family can be scary. As you can see the highest average in the last year has been only 3 people per family.
