When most kids go to school their parents aren’t with them. But, some students have their parents working at the same schools they go to. Parents may be teachers, administrators, lunch staff, or a para-pro. There some students with parents that work at McCollough Unis. Parents may choose to have their children go to the same school as them for a certain reason or it may be a coincidence.
Even the principal at Unis has two of his children at the school. 7th grader Mona Farhat, one of Mr.Farhat’s daughters says,”I don’t think that anything has changed, I feel like everything
is the same as it was before he started working here.” Mr.Farhat likes having his daughters at Unis with him, he said, “It’s really nice having them here. I like seeing them during the day.”
There are so many advantages of having your parent work at your school. Not only do you see them during the day, but if you ever need anything they will most likely be there to give it to you. Need money for a field trip? Don’t worry your mom or dad could give you money. Some kids may not like the idea of having their parent at school but when you think about it it’s actually something that could really help you out.
There are many reasons why some parents want their child to go to school with them. Mr.Smedley, a teacher at Unis, has his son Ethan going to Unis as well. He wanted to be more involved in his son’s life. Mr.Smedley stated, “I am very happy to have my son at school. We have time to talk on our way to and from school. I especially like the fact that he is getting a good education.” 8
th grader Ethan Smedley said, “It’s pretty cool because a lot of people like my dad so they like me too.”
Having your parent work at your school can be very effective and make it easier to get to and from school. Whether your parent works at your school or not it’s still neat knowing that one of your teachers is your friend’s dad, or that you’re friends with the principal’s daughter. Now, how would you feel if one of your parents went to school with you?

This also sometimes can be a bad thing because the student that has their parent working in the school can take advantage. The student can miss behave and disrespect all the teachers and if he/she gets sent to the office nothing will happen because their parent will take care of it. It has its ups and downs because taking care of your son or daughter is a job all parents have but it won’t be equal to the other students that are in the school. Either way, it would be pretty cool to have your parent in the school because their always there when you need them.

If i had one of my parents working at my school i think it wouldn’t change . I feel like seeing them throughout the day would make me happy and have “confidence”. Knowing that i have my mom or father apart of the staff would be cool just in case i need something my parents /parent is there.It would also be good for the school because having a teacher switching his or her kids to the school they work at is good because its’s showing good curriculum in the school meaning providing good education to the students.
