Has Music Really Changed?

Everyone listens to music but do they know its history? “93% of the U.S spend more than 25 hours each week listening to their favorite music.” According  to Nielsen’s Music. Is some of the music the same or has it changed?

Pop Music, has changed a lot from when adults were younger. “ Music when I was younger consisted of boy bands and young female singers that carried a tune/note, and the music very “mellow”” says Clinton Crace from Mccollough Unis School. I also asked him how he feels about the music today and he said, “ The music today with the loud bass and cuss words is really disrespectful to me. Now these days, the music is also negative towards gender, race, etc.” A lot of people listen to Pop Music but do they feel the same way?

Rap/Hip Hop music started 1000 years ago in Africa and has been all over the world ever since. Rap music has been featured in a lot of things like TV commercials and a lot of movies. “ Artists today are not concerning their word choices. When I was growing up artists cared about how they influenced kids.” Says April Kincaid from Mccollough Unis  School. I also  asked her how she feels about the music today and she said, “Music today is far too graphic and has too many negative issues featured in lyrics.” I feel like if artist knew who listens to their music or  the age group they wouldn’t use as much cuss words.

When I think of Rock and Roll music I think of bands, guitars, and drums. There are different types of genres. Rock and roll changes a lot over the years but also stays the same. “ My favorite era of music is the 70’s and 80’s” says Jordan from A blog about music. “ Till now people are still listen to 70’s and 80’s Rock.”Kiss, Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Pink Floyd,  were all popular in the 80’s and people are still hyped up and are still listening to them and going to their concerts.  This shows how far Rock and Roll has come too.

Music has all types of genres and they all do change overtime. 75% of americans listen to music on a daily / regular basis. Different era and music types  also affects your mood.  “Music is a great stress reliever,” says Clinton Crace.  People till this day still listen  to music from when they were younger and enjoy it as much as the music now .In your opinion is the music today better or worse?
