March Madness started March 19 and ended April 9, between these dates the most unbelievable plays, and the best upsets took place. The Duke Blue Devils came out in the win but it wasn’t easy. They had to go through 7 teams and were on top of 62 teams that were qualified to compete in the playoffs. There were many upsets such as the Spartans making it to the Final Four and almost beating Duke.
Sweet Sixteen is when people start taking it serious, 16 teams went face to face with each other and there were 8 of them that came victorious. It’s not like you have one or more chances the madness about it is if you have one bad game and lose that’s it your done and you pack your stuff and your going home!
The 8 teams that made it out of the struggle were Kentucky, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan State, Louisville, Gonzaga and lastly Duke.
Next was the Elite Eight, this division consisted of only the top 8 teams in the nation. “When people saw the results of the scores after the game, wow just wow it was crazy how everyone was shocked!” Hassan Hammoud, an 8th grade Unis Middle school student explains that “When many fans see these upsets they get mad and embarrassed how their team lost to a lower rank team. In my opinion, I think that the underdog should have the same chance to win as the other teams. It’s not fair how teams are under estimated!”
The Final Four division is probably the most important part of any players college career because this is when scouts come and watch you play. Scouts draft players that is why these games are taken really serious. Being scouted to the right college at the right time could change your life forever.
Many people argue that their team should automatically make the Final Four. Others believe the championship game should be a best out of 3 series. Hussein Baydoun, a Unis Middle school student strongly explains why he thinks the games should be series, “So you are here telling me a man, that has worked his hardest and gave it his all is going to be denied or declined because he had one single bad game in his career and a player that has done very poor through out the season but does amazing in one game is going to be successful in life? I don’t know about you but that seems very unfair!”
Duke and Wisconsin come out in victory and move to the Championship Game!
Championship Game, the game that every player, coach and owner has dreamed for ever since they became a college student was being played by the one and only Blue Devils from Duke University and the underrated Wisconsin University Badgers. It was a very emotional game because Duke hasn’t won a Championship for the past 7 years and the Badgers only won a Championship once.
After all the clashing and fighting Duke comes out win the win but Wisconsin felt like they accomplished something because they are one of 6 teams that went into the Playoffs unranked and almost won the Championship. Moe Berro, a Unis Middle school student explains how Wisconsin shouldn’t be mad. “Ok, it hurts to go into a championship and lose I feel you, you gotta be disappointed. But to go into the Playoffs unranked and be on top of 61 teams and doing what no other Wisconsin team has done, you have to feel some sort of greatness in you.”
There is always next year as every losing team says, but this time The Duke Blue Devils walk away victoriously!
