As you may know, the New England Patriots were recently caught cheating in two games. They deflated 11 out of the 12 game balls. But for this NFL franchise the only penalty they recieved was a $75,000 fine. That may seem like a lot to us but for a NFL franchise that is nothing.
Many may argue that the Patriots should have been penalized severely for cheating. Hussein Baydoun, a Unis student and a huge sports fan says “It is ridiculous for them to be charged only $75,000. They should have been eliminated from the NFL playoffs.” Many may agree with Hussein Baydoun, the Patriots should have been eliminated from the playoffs and should of never played the Super Bowl.
On the other hand Patriots fan Mohammed Mokdad, says “It’s true they should have been fine much more for cheating, but it would be taking it too far by kicking them out of the playoffs.” As a Patriots fan it is clear to see why he doesn’t want them to be eliminated because what does he care if they get fined as long as they can play.
Ali Ahmed, a Seattle Seahawks fan says, “The Patriots never deserved to touch the same field as the Seahawks. They did not deserve to make it to the Super Bowl since cheating is what got them into the Super Bowl and through the playoffs.”
It has been said the cheaters never win. In the case of the Patriots that saying is not true. Many people agree that cheaters don’t deserve to win. Cheating is what got the Patriots through the playoffs and into the Super Bowl but what should be the correct punishment?
