Distribution of Student Belongings and Returning of School Belongings on 5/28 11:30-2:30 pm

Good Evening Howard Families,

We hope that you and your loved ones enjoyed this holiday weekend and had time to take a break from the new norm of the “remote lifestyle.”    We are gearing up for the end of the school year and we wanted to give you a heads up about this coming Thursday, May 28th.  On Thursday, May 28th from 11:30-2:30 pm we will have a distribution of student belongings.  Students will receive personal belongings from their desks in a brown bag labeled with their name on it.  If you have a specific item that you are concerned about (i.e. jacket, eyeglasses etc…), please be sure to communicate with your child’s teacher so that we do not miss anything important.  Additionally, we will be asking that students return specific school belongings back to the school on this distribution day.  Your child’s teacher will communicate with you about what specific item(s) to return on that day, examples of items may include (LLI books, library books, reading bags, textbooks, instruments for 5th graders, and safety belts).  We will NOT be asking you to return Chromebooks at this time so please hang on to those for now.  You may come to the school anytime during the 3 hour time frame (11:30-2:30 pm) on May 28th.  It will be a drive-up format so please remain in your vehicles at all times. Drive-up locations around the school will be coordinated with normal after school pick-up locations.  Please see below for a reminder of where to drive-up depending on the grade-level(s) of your child(ren).  As a friendly reminder, parents and students are not allowed in the building for their safety so please remain in your vehicles at all times.  Thank you for your continued flexibility and patience during this unprecedented time.

Stay safe,
Mirvat Sabbagh

P.E Assignment for the Week of May 25th-May 31st

Hello Everyone,

I have added a new assignment in my K-2nd and 3rd-5th Google Classroom for this week. It is a new fitness log. The log should be completed at least three times this week. However, you can complete it more times, if you would like. The log should only be completed one time a day after 10-15 minutes of exercise for K-2nd and after 20 minutes of exercise for 3rd-5th.

The new Google Classroom assignment for this week also contains a video on plyometrics (jumping exercises) that you will need to watch. I would like you to perform three jumping exercises (forward and backward, sideways, scissor line jumps) before and after your exercises/workouts this week. Then when you complete the fitness log, there will be three questions to answer about your performance with line jumps I listed above.

  • Meeting:  regularly submitted work and attended check-ins
    • Accuracy of work assessed on standards/graded/recorded in MiStar
    • High participation
  • Progressing:  Submitted most assignments and attended some of the check-ins
  • Limited Participation:  with one of the following explanations
    • Rarely or did not submit work (may be required to attend summer school)
    • Rarely attended check-in sessions (may be required to attend summer school)

Our lessons should be a FUN way to engage in school and are not intended to be a further point of stress, but a way to balance yourselves holistically.

At this point, the district is requiring us to give “grades” based on participation.  So we are required to provide lessons.   We are focusing on making those FUN and beneficial, not stressful!  You will all benefit from taking a break from your core subjects each day to participate in our fun!  Then, just show us the fun you had!
