exercise.51

GOAL: Today, you must write a 5 paragraph essay on loose leaf.

This assignment is worth 87 points!

If you have time, you should also label using the correct color codes.

DON’T CRY!  TRY!

YES … you CAN write a full essay in one hour.

It’s really not that hard if you follow the Super CER pattern (which you should have memorized).

CHEAT.SHEET.ESSAY

TEACHER’S ADVICE #1: Look at your highlighted Super CER paper if you have to, but try not to look at it too much.

TEACHER’S ADVICE #2: Read through the cheat sheet before you start. Try not to look at it while you’re writing your essay, but if you have to take a peek, it’s OK!!!

YOU WILL HAVE A RELAXING AND EASY FRIDAY IF YOU MEET YOUR GOALS TODAY AND TOMORROW.

TODAY’S GOALS MUST BE DONE IN ORDER:

  • Read through “Mission of Mercy” by Esther Lipnick. The best way to do this is to work in a small group and read the character parts like a real drama. Discuss as you go to make sure you understand the three scenes.
  • Take the quotes sheet and FINISH it. You should write your answers on loose leaf if the paper is too small.
  • Ask for a HOOK/TRANSITIONS sheet.  This is a YEAR sheet.  Bring it with you every day and keep it until the last day of 7th grade.
  • Try drafting your first paragraph (introduction) of your new Super CER essay. The question is below.

QUESTION: How does the author of “Mission of Mercy” use all three scenes to develop the main character?

HW:

Carefully read and annotate “Mission of Mercy”.

Write a SHORT summary after each scene.

HW: Study the Super CER.

You must know the key words for all 5 paragraphs.
