AS SOON AS YOU’RE DONE WITH BW, YOU MUST LOOK UP YOUR LATEST NWEA READING SCORE AND WRITE IT IN YOUR PLANNER.

CHOICES

• Explore every part of the Cedar Point website for at least 20 minutes. Write or type a report about what you learned.
• IXL
• Work on your composition book.
• Log into StudentConnect and work on your missing assignments. Do this third.
• Look over ALL FIVE parts of your gramps/Mitchell packet and make sure all parts are done well. Then, drop your packet in the bin. HINT: This is the one you should do first.
• WRITE SOURCE BOOK PAGE 567 – Make 20 mini flash cards and study them, because we will have a big quiz about this very soon! HINT: This is the one you should do second.

READING DODGEBALL: Neatly write your name and one of the vocabulary words from the witches test on a mini scrap then drop it in the birthday box. Mini scraps are near the box. DO NOT ASK ME FOR A MINI SCRAP!

*** CHALLENGE FOR 7 POLAR POINTS ***

Sit on the rolling chair and use your phone for the whole hour. The chair must keep moving the whole hour. You must have your shoes off. You are only allowed to do ELA things on your phone. If you don’t have a phone, you could use a chromebook. You will get free time for the last 10 minutes of class. I will pick someone for this on MONDAY.

We are having a test today because I need to see how you deal with 7th grade level reading.

• Try your best.
• Do not get any help from the teacher or from other students.
• This test WILL NOT count for this report card, but I will show your parents if they ask about your reading ability.
• We will have a test just like this at the END of 7th grade worth 200 points. You WILL NOT have to take the test if your NWEA READING score goes UP.
• Miss Sorenson’s class already had to do this, AND she made them do a CER with it, so please no crying!
• Please complete the SELF test BEFORE you work on the “Witches” test.
• If you finish BOTH tests, please choose something VERY QUIET to do. You may use a chromebook and headphones.
• EXTRA POINTS: AFTER you finish the “Witches” test, draw a creepy witch in the white space on your test. You may search for examples on your chromebook.

HW:

Neatly copy sentences 1-9 on a fresh piece of loose leaf. Then circle the correct answers.

On the BACK of your loose leaf, write your answers for 10-12.

Ms. Fawaz is calling for a pink out tomorrow, October 24, 2019 in support of breast cancer fighters and survivors. She would like to see an ocean of pink students flooding the hallways and classrooms of LMS.

WEAR MOSTLY PINK TOMORROW! You must also bring $1 OR MORE to your first hour teacher.

• IXL: 30 minutes of language arts – 6th grade level OR HIGHER. You must use headphones. If you go from 0 to 100 in 8th grade level, you will earn a polar point.

AFTER RAZA/IXL: TAKE OUT ALL YOUR GRAMPS/MITCHELL WORK AND FINISH EVERYTHING. THIS INCLUDES QAR, CER AND HW.

AFTER GRAMPS/MITCHELL:

READING: Read your library book.

WRITING: Work on your composition book pages 1-5.

LISTENING: Watch the YouTube video about old people staying healthy. Take notes on loose leaf while you watch.

SPEAKING:

C+ Be ready to read to the class with no mistakes in a loud, clear voice.

B+ Be ready to tell a joke to the class with no mistakes in a loud, clear voice.

A+ Be ready to teach the class an ELA lesson in a loud, clear voice.

HW:

AT HOME: Read your library book for 15-20 minutes. Write your start time and stop time on the top of a piece of loose leaf. Neatly write the title and author at the top of your loose leaf. After you read, write a short summary (one big paragraph is enough) about your reading. USE YOUR OWN WORDS! I will know if you have just copied from Google or from the back of your book. Your mom or dad must sign the paper.

YOU MAY PAY ME 10 POLAR POINTS TO SKIP THIS HW.

I am noticing that many students (and teachers) have been sick. That means it’s definitely sniffle season which means it’s TISSUE TIME!

THE PRINCIPAL TOLD THE TEACHERS THAT WE CAN’T GIVE EXTRA CREDIT FOR SOMETHING THAT IS NOT EDUCATIONAL (LIKE BRINGING TISSUE BOXES).

So you’ll have to do a little work. 🙂

Neatly copy all this on loose leaf:

1. napkin – something you use to wipe your hands and mouth while you’re eating a meal
2. paper towel – a strong but soft piece of paper used to dry your hands after you wash them; can also be used to clean up spills
3. tissue – a very soft piece of paper you use to blow your nose
4. Kleenex – a company that makes tissues

On the BACK of your loose leaf, write interesting sentences using each of the words (4 sentences).

Neatly fold your loose leaf then tape it to a BRAND NEW box of tissues.

Bring the box of tissues (with loose leaf taped on) to class on

MONDAY OR TUESDAY – 10 extra credit points

WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, OR FRIDAY – 5 extra credit points

The last day to turn in this extra credit is FRIDAY,  OCTOBER 25, 2019.

SECRET EXTRA CREDIT:

Take a new piece of loose leaf paper. With clean hands, crumble and smash it into a tight ball shape.  Now open the paper. Now smash the paper into a ball shape and open it again. Do this 100 times. Congratulations you have made a tissue. You may do this AFTER you have brought in a box of tissues for the class

• You will LOSE points if you are not following what is on the iBlog today. You could earn MORE than 20 points (and polar points) if the teachers see something extra positive.

• The whole class will walk quietly in the hallway to and from the library. Other classes should not even know we have passed by.

• Give Mrs. Navvare your respect and your 100% complete attention. She may talk for a short time or a long time. I DON’T KNOW!

• Choose a CHAPTER BOOK that is not too easy or too hard for you. Choose a book that you will actually read!

• After you check out a book, sit in the library and start reading SILENTLY.

• After we get back to class, get comfortable and read SILENTLY for five minutes. You may take off your shoes.

3rd hour: If you want to play READING dodgeball … drop a mini scrap in the French Roast coffee box.

4th hour: If you want to play READING dodgeball … drop a mini scrap in the Happy Birthday box.

6th hour: If you want to play READING dodgeball … drop a mini scrap in the green water pitcher.

HW:

On a fresh sheet of loose leaf, CREATE a QAR question for the gramps/Mitchell text.

• You must write the question and four possible answers (A, B, C, D). Only one of the answers is right.
• If you want an A+, you must write 6 possible answer (A, B, C, D, E, F). Two of the answers are right.
• If you’re not sure how to do this HW, use one of the questions we did in class as a model.

CW1:

On a fresh sheet of paper, write a CER.

A+ Choose five from the word bank that you don’t know. Neatly copy them on a fresh sheet of loose leaf then write the correct matching answer. Then, write one interesting sentence for each – five total sentences.

A++ Finish the A+ work then add a neat little colorful pic by each sentence.

CW1: I WANT TO SEE YOU WORKING THE WHOLE HOUR!

A++ Work in the hallway. Your NWEA READING score must be 221 or higher. You must get permission from the teacher.

A+ Work with a RANDOM partner. The teacher will randomly select a partner for you.
