Peek at the Week

  • The Unique Learning System topic for January is My Body. We are using the story, Head to Toe by Eric Carle to explore all the movements our body can do.
  • Our story this week is There Was A Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow by Lucille Colandro. Click on the button below to enjoy the story at home with your child. Reading the same stories at home helps the students make a home/school connection and allows them the chance to let you know what they have been reading all week at school
  • We continued our science experiments on Hot and Cold
  • Our letter this week was the letter O. The students made variety of projects to represent the letter O. We also squeezed our own orange juice to enjoy.
  • For math this month, we are practicing fractions

  • Our story this week is Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Write. This colorful story tells a tale of a snowman who is to cold and what happens when he tries to warm up! Click on the button below to enjoy the story at home with your child. Reading the same stories at home helps the students make a home/school connection and allows them the chance to let you know what they have been reading all week at school
  • We practice counting how many letters are in our names and then made snowmen with the letters.
  • For sciene this week we explored the difference between hot and cold. We felt the difference between cold and warm items. We also did an experiement with Pop Rock and how they react differently in hot and cold water.
  • Our letter this week was the letter N. The students made variety of projects to represent the letter N.
  • For math this month, we are practicing fractions

  • Our story this week was The Night Before New Year’s by Little Readers. It is a fun story about a family ringing in the New Year. Staying awake until midnight is not easy! I didn’t make it. Valentine’s Day Party

Our Valentine’s Party will be on Wednesday, February 14th.  This is a special time for the kids to remember those whom they care about.  Most children really look forward to giving and receiving Valentine cards.  Below you will find our class name list.  Please send your child’s Valentine cards once you have prepared them.  Help your child fill them out at home and send them in a bag with their name clearly marked on the outside.  We do not have time to do them for your child at school..  Thank you for your help!

First Up Date of the New Year

Welcome Liliana!

On Tuesday, we welcomed a new friend into our classroom family. Meet Liliana. She is 3 years old with beautiful brown eye and a gentle personality. We are looking forward to getting to know our new little one!

Classroom Staffing Changes

Our dear Ms. Sisoy dilocated her hip on December 29th and had sugery to patch her back together on January 4th. Meet Ms. S. She will be filling in for Ms. Sisoy while she heals up. She is kind and loving towards the students and fits right in with us. We are lucky to have her.

Community Based Instruction

Permission slips for community based instruction have already gone out for parent signatures. We are still missing a few. Please be sure to sign and return the permission slip. Our first outing is this Friday, January 12th. We are going bowling to Thunderbowl Lanes from 9:30 to 12:30. We will eat lunch when we return to school. All the CBI trips are on Friday. The outings are as listed below:

  • 1/12/24 Bowling
  • 2/9/24 Henry Ford Museum
  • 4/19/24 Swimming
  • 5/10/24 Greenfield Villiage or Museum (depending on weather)
