Mini Martian Marathon Update
This years April 18th event hast been postponed at this time. Running Fit ,the organization that run the event, is offering up some choices on what to due to possibly still have the event. The following are some choices that we will be discussing in the future when things become more clear and their is a better understanding of when it is safe to be in large groups again.
1.Possibly move the event to a summer date.
2.Transfer this years money towards next years 2021 event.
This process is fluid and won’t be determined for awhile but I wanted to update our run families at both DuVall and Long. Mr.Tapp
Make Physical Activity a Habit
All of need to take time each day to move our bodies to stay physically and mentally sharp. Check out this short video from Trea Young NBA star for the Atlanta Hawks(there are numerous videos that play continuous, feel free to hit stop after Trea Young’s message).
Bowling
Both Duvall and Long schools were about to begin our bowling program in the gym. My plan is to pick up where we left off when we get back. There is a great introduction to learning bowling on the website gobowling.com . Scroll down until you see the learn to bowl section and click on it. At Home Physical Activities
While the schools are closed and our students are at home it is still important for them to get daily exercise and movement. All of our students are aware of daily exercises that we do in the gym like scissor kicks,ski jumpers, jumping jacks,mountain climbers, and shoulder touches. These are all activities that can be done in your home and as part of a daily routine. Other activities that can be done at home include basic yoga, movement activities on GoNoodle, exercise videos designed for kids on you tube(see links below), going for walk(with parental guidance), and jumping rope(if you have a rope) .

Mini-Martian Marathon 2020
March 9th is this year’s deadline to sign up for our teams at the group discounted price of 20$. Both Long and Duvall have the sign up sheet in the main office for all interested runners. All students that join will receive a log book,inflatable alien, t-shirt, and medal after crossing finish line on race day. Please sign up asap. Mr.Tapp

Congratulations to Brandon Freitag and Drake Van Marter on their 2 on 2 victory. Brandon was the ice cream social award winner of this event with myself and his chosen friends. The students got to play some hoops and eat lunch with me. We had a great time! Mr.Tapp

This year’s event will be held on Saturday April 18th at noon for all Dearborn students. I will be sending home an informational letter for all interested students the week of January 13th. All grades are allowed to participate in this event.
