Get Up, Get Out, Get Active
Dear Parents,
This year and every year we do our best to promote physical activity. We do such activities as Jump Rope for Heart, ACES, Field Day, Bowl for Life, Mini-Martian Marathon and now the Road to Disney all in an effort to get our students more active. Did you know that 60 minutes is the daily amount of physical activity your child should be getting as recommended by the government. When possible try to help your child incorporate some activity into their day such as walks or bike rides. The earlier we get our students to form good habits in regards to their health the more likely they are to see the importance and stay active for a lifetime.
Whitmore-Bolles “Road to Disney”
The participating students at Whitmore-Bolles have jogged/walked 550 miles for the month of September. We have traveled enough miles to make it to Chattanooga, Tenn.
DuVall Elementary’s “Road to Disney”
The students at DuVall jogged/walked a combined 759 miles for the month of September. We traveled far enough to make it to Atlanta ,Georgia.
Looking for some pictures of our students being active.
Dear Parents, I am making a display in the gym titled “Look who’s Active”. I would like to fill the board with pictures of our students being active. Those baseball card pictures they make for team sports are great. Your child does not have to participate on an organized team to get in this display. Any picture that shows them being active will do (jogging, rollerblading, playing catch,ect.).
Welcome Back!
Physical Education classes officially begin Monday Sept. 13th. Week one is an orientation to the gym , safety procedures, and a review of the rules to follow while in the gym.
DuVall Field Day
Field day is next wednesday the 26th. Make sure your child comes prepared with tennis shoes and possibly put some sun screen on them before leaving the house.
