Week 3 DuVall Physical Education

This week we will be qualifying our 4th and 5th graders for the Bob Cipriano Run. If your child qualifies a permission slip will be sent home Thursday or Friday and must be returned by Monday October 5th. Dearborn Run Club (organizers) will not accept late permission slips due to the fact that they are creating race bibs. Please only return bottom portion of paper and keep top half with race day instructions.

K-3 will continue to focus on the hop and the instep kick.

Week 2 DuVall

I have officially now seen all of my classes at least one time. All students have reviewed class procedures, rules, and emergency plans. We will now be starting the instep kick in all grades while the K-2 will focus on loco motor skills(hop, gallop) and grades 3-5 focusing on Cardiovascular endurance.

In grades 1-5 each student was offered the opportunity to become a Fitness Warrior (home physical activities) that take a minimum of 20 days to complete. These sheets promote physical activity and provides small incentives for completing. A parent/guardian signature is required to receive small prize.

Grades 1-5 also can earn a Good Sports bracelet by completing a short homework assignment focused on understanding what it means to be a good sport.

Grades 4-5 Both boys and girls will have the opportunity to qualify to run in the 3rd annual Bob Cipriano run on Saturday October 17th in the am representing our school. Any student in 4th grade completing 1 mile in 13 minutes or 5th grade 1 mile in 12 minutes will qualify to go. All tested data must be turned in by October 5 which on leaves me with two weeks to train and test( sorry one week no school next W,Th.,F). If your child is interested running at home before test with parent approval is suggested.

I am looking for some pictures of our students that are phys.ed related to post outside of gym.

Mini Martian Marathon

Both DuVall and Whitmore Bolles took over 70 students to participate in this years event. The weather was great, the support from our parents was great, and the kids had a terrific time. A special thank you to Mr. And Mrs. Malone for coaching at DuVall this season.

Coming Soon, Mini-Martian Marathon Packets

A detailed letter/packet will be sent home to all interested students for the Mini-Martian Marathon. This event costs 15$ and registration must be done on-line(information in packet). Students will be responsible to complete 25 miles before the race date and complete the remaining 1.2 miles the day of the race. Students miles will be recorded by the parents and are based on the honor system(I trust each student and parent will be honest while completing). Look for the packet the end of January or the beginning of February.
