Just one more week to sign up at the discount price of 15$. After March 9th the price will jump to over 20$. I will begin Friday lunch practices om March 10th and continue each Friday up until the event. We are currently at only 21 runners to date and would like to substantially increase that number. The Mini Martian Marathon is a great way for our students to get physically active and be part of a team.

Mini-Martian Marathon
The sign up deadline is just 4 weeks away. I now have the log books for the students signed up. If your child plans on joining the team the sooner the better to try and spread out the jogging over more days. The website to join along with team name and password on DuVall school blog.
Bowl for Life
We are in the middle of a two week unit called Bowl for Life. The students will learn some basic bowling skills and knowledge that hopefully they can use at a real bowling alley. We will touch on everything from grip, approach, release, strike, spare, split, to proper etiquette while at the bowling alley. The kids love it!
Coming Soon
The students at both DuVall and Long will be participating in “Bowl for Life” starting the first week of February. The program is designed to introduce our students to the basics of bowling and hopefully get them excited about learning a lifelong activity.
I also will be sending home soon the information regarding the “Mini Martian Marathon” . The paper will include sign up information along with event responsibilities. This year I will be spending time on Fridays in March and April practicing with any students interested in completing some miles.
Jump Rope for Hearts Data
Both Long and DuVall has completed their Jump Rope for Heart Event successfully. Both schools completed more than 65,000 jumps and raised plenty of money to help the American Heart Association. DuVall raised over 2,400$ while Long came in at over 1,200$. I would like to thank all of the students and parents that worked so hard to make this year’s event a success.

Jump Rope for Heart 16-17
We are off to an amazing start fund raising for the American Heart Association. All classes will be participating next week December 12 through the 16th in their physical education classes. Each year we set a monetary goal along with a jump goal that we try to reach as a team. Next week both of my schools will try to reach 65,000 jumps by the end of the 16th.
If your child is still fund raising the deadline to turn the money in is Friday December 16th.
