Bob Cipriano Run

I am still looking for any 4th or 5th grade student interested in running for DuVall/Long to please sign up before Wednesday October 11th. This year the event has been opened to any student interested, yet our numbers are low. The event is a great way for your child to be part of a team and participate in a school event. The cost is 3$ and I will provide a school shirt to wear day of event (Monday October 23rd after school at Ford Field) if needed. Get involved , join up 4th and 5th graders! Mr. Tapp

Bob Cipriano Run 2017

This year’s Bob Cipriano Run will be taking place on Monday October 23rd after school (more details coming home). This year the race is open to any 4th or 5th grade student interested in participating. If your child has not brought home a permission slip than they have chosen to not take part (please ask them to go great way to be introduced to a cross country meet). The cost is 3$ and a permission slip must be turned in no later than Friday October 6th. More information to come over next two weeks.

Physical Education Teacher,

Welcome Back!

Welcome back students!

Both the upper and lower elementary students will be focusing this cardmarking on the instep kick. Lower elementary will also focus on the locomotor skill hopping while the upper elementary will focus on the fitness related skill of cardio respiratory endurance(jogging).

All 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to qualify for the Bob Cipriano run and represent our school on race day. Because qualifying happens in early October I would advise for interested students to get some jog time in at home to be ready/fit for the qualification test.

I look forward to another great year at DuVall (my 21st),

Bryan Tapp, Physical Education

Field Day 2017

Field Day was a huge success made possible by all of the hardworking parents, staff, and 5th grade helpers. I would like to thank Mrs.Pinch for supplying the water and treats along with getting permits and a city worker (Tess Robar, former student) to make sure we had a shelter and bathroom if needed. Thank you to Mr.Attee , Kathy, and Ann for keeping an eye on radar and making the appropriate decisions to keep us all safe. Thank you to Mr.Kieth for lining the field on a very hot day. A special thank you to all of the 5th grade helpers and parents that helped out to make the day a memorable one. With out the help of all of you field day would not be the same and I am grateful for everyone’s contributions.

Sincerely,

Bryan Tapp Physical Education

Mini Martian Last Update

I am picking up the jerseys/bibs today after school. They will be passed out tomorrow am. Please fill out information on back of bib in case of emergency. Make sure to wear bracelet (it helps to identify our students). We will meet at DuVall/Long sign before race and kids will be returning to sign after race. Please pick them up at sign after race and you will be free to go.

5k runners have to pick up own jersey/bib on Friday after 3pm at the Ford Performing Arts Center. Good Luck runners!

Mini Martian Marathon Updates

The event is one month away. I hope everyone is training at home to get ready for the big day. As your child reaches the 10 mile marker have them see me to get their inflatable martian. I will hold two more practices on the 24th and 31st of March.

I have been unable to locate the company that made our shirts last year. The students that participated last year can wear the shirt they bought last year or wear the shirt that they will receive for free this year along with a red Sportsmanship bracelet.

The goal of the race is to get our students active and involved. Our numbers have grown to over 50 now with many of our students participating in the 5k.

Any questions give me a call at DuVall elementary, Bryan Tapp (Physical Education)

Mini Martian Update

The DuVall Penguins are now up to close to 50 runners (10 plus running the 5k) for the Mini Martian Marathon. We will hold our second practice this Friday during lunch recess. Each student will need to train at home to meet the miles needed before the race. If your child has not received a log book they should see Mr. Tapp to get one. I am still working on shirts and will send home any information as soon as I have it. Any questions regarding the event please leave message for me with Kathy at DuVall.

Mini Martian Marathon Updates

Thursday March 9th is the last day to register for 15$. Starting Friday the price will increase by 10$. I will be holding short jogging sessions during Friday lunch recess to help kids find a comfortable jogging speed. All students that attend will be able to cross off 1 mile on log book. Each participant needs to map out a plan to complete the 25 miles prior to April 22nd (Honor System).

I am currently in the process of finding out the cost for Penguin Race Day shirts to wear on the 22nd. If your child already owns one from previous years and it fits that would be fine to wear. If your child does not own one and would like to purchase one a note will be coming home soon.

I will continue to update my blog on any happenings regarding the Marathon.
