Week 6-April 20th-24th New Requirements!

Hello to all my second grade friends and families! We are now entering into the 4th semester of our second grade learning at home classroom! We have spent the last 5 weeks getting used to the at home learning tools and exploring interesting sites. We have set goals and you have been trying so hard, with the help of your family to make sure you are ready for third grade! I hope you are enjoying the learning so far. You are doing a great job!

This week we are given new requirements from our administrators, but you will notice that you have doing most of the things already! The new assignments will be graded each week and you will be given a grade for the fourth card marking period using these grades. These grades will be recorded as Meeting, doing all of the assigned work, Progressing, doing most of the assignments, and Limited Participation, rarely or not doing any of the assignments.

The assignments will be very specific, so you need to do everything on the list. If you want to use any of the other sites from previous weeks, they are still there as enrichment, but you will receive grades based only on what is assigned to you each week.

You will still be doing 2 hours (25 minutes a day) on I Ready, Zearn math- 3 lessons per week (because of the length of each lesson), and Reading Epic books on line for 15 minutes a day. Science or Social studies will be covered in books and videos that I assign to students on Read Works or Epic. (The time spent on them will be counted in the 15 minutes of reading each day.) The assigned books and videos will be found in the mailbox at the top of the Epic home page once you log into Epic. The books often come with a short quiz after reading, so remember to take the quiz and press finished to receive credit. I still have a few students who have not accepted the invitation to join EPIC by email. You can also access it using the class code below if necessary.

Spelling Words Week 28: Pattern: ore, oar Mystery Words are : more, pore, soar, store, boar

List Words: chore, roar, board, score, wore, snore, tore, oar, aboard, shore

Please do the 2 activities on the assignment chart. Send me only the score from the spelling test on Friday. (15 words)

Writing: A new writing assignment will be given every week and you can send me a photo of your child’s writing with their spelling score in the same email.

Please look at the chart below for this week’s lessons. All the lessons that I give you will be monitored throughout the week online by Miss Strzykalski.

By the end of the week, you should have completed the following assignments to receive a meeting grade for the week. Any other written notes taken during the week do not need to be turned in.

1. 2 hours (120) minutes of I Ready (I will monitor online)

2. 3 Zearn lessons ( I will monitor the lessons online)

3. Reading 15 minutes a day on Epic, which includes the 2 videos and 4 books assigned for Science or Social Studies located on the Epic site. They are found in the students mailbox at the top of the home page on Epic. ( I will monitor the books and time on line)
