Wednesday, April 22

Hello everyone! Happy Earth Day!

As you read chapters 2 and 3 of “City of Ember” this week, I wanted to post part of the “City of Ember” graphic novel that I found! Unfortunately, only the first part of the graphic novel is online for free. However, it is still really cool and a great way to review the main events from Chapter 1!

Remember, today you should be close to finishing Chapters 2 and 3 so you have time to work on your Post-Reading Character collage. All City of Ember Week 2 Assignments are due Sunday, April 26th. I love the creativity I have seen so far 🙂 Keep it up! Happy reading Hornets!

Tuesday, April 21

Good morning 🙂

We will send you the nickname to the Google Hangout on Google Classroom about 5 minutes before the meeting starts. Directions to join are as follows:
In a web browser, enter https://meet.google.com.
Click Join or start a meeting.
Enter a nickname.

Here is a break down of what the Hangouts will look like:
Mondays (Going over what the assignment for the week is):
I will start at exactly 4:05.
I will share my screen with everyone and go over each slide. (this will take about 6-10 minutes)
I will then open the session to any questions that you may have. (Please see Google Hangout expectations below)

Thursdays (Answering questions about the week’s reading):
I will start exactly 4:05
You MUST have read or listened to the chapter before you attend.
I will answer specific questions about the assignment. If you did not read the chapter, you will be kicked out!

Google Hangout expectations:
Between 4:00-4:05 I will log on and wait for students to log in. You may have your mics on and talk to one another then to catch up.
At 4:05 all students MUST mute their mics.
You may not use the chat to have side conversations.
If you have a question while I am speaking about what I am saying, please use the chat to ask your question and I will answer it.
After the “lecture”, I will open it to students to ask specific questions. One person at a time must be speaking. Please listen to others’ questions because they might have the same question as you.
Any student not following these expectations will be kicked out of the Hangout.
Hope to see you there!!
