Weekly Update: Feb. 24-28

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone had a good weekend. This week:

  • There is no school tomorrow (Tuesday) for students.
  • Black History Month projects are due Wednesday. Students must turn in the completed Notes packet AND have some type of presentation (poster, slide show, book, etc) for the class.
  • We are starting module 5 in math. Module 5 homework books are coming home today. This week we are doing lessons 1-4.
  • Today your child is coming home with a book bag (gallon ziploc). In this book bag is the two usual phonics readers they get every Monday and one other book at their current reading level. These three books are to be read at home all week. The two phonics books are for you to keep, the third book must be returned each Friday. I have also included a comprehension bookmark in the bag. It has some helpful questions to ask your child while reading. These questions can be used with any books anytime you read. Remember, each Monday they will get three new books in their book bag. Every Friday their book bag is due with the book at their level, the two phonics books stay at home.
  • February reading logs are due Monday. March reading logs and weekly writing topics will go home Friday.

Have a lovely week!

Your child will present their project to the class so they should practice at home.

Dentist Visit!

In honor of Dental Health month, every year we take a “field trip” to the other end of the building to visit the dental students’ class. They create fun activities for our students to participate in and learn from. It’s always a great experience!
