REMINDER! REMINDER! REMINDER!

TEST ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2012: CELLULAR RESPIRATION THROUGH PHOTOSYNTHESIS

On Tuesday, students will be evaluated upon the two life processes, photosynthesis and cellular respiration. The students will be examined upon how these two processes are interrelated in terms of their chemical components, and the roles that these chemical components play in each process, either directly or indirectly.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2012: CHAPTER 6 TEST

Students will be evaluated upon the development of the periodic table, classification of the elements, and periodic trends. The focus of the test will be on the key features of the periodic table, how it was put together, why elements in the same group have similar properties, identify the four blocks of the periodic table based upon their electron configuration, compare period and group trends of several properties, and relate period and group trends in atomic radii to electron configuration.

Review for Chapter 6 & 7 Test

We will answer and discuss the various characteristics of photosynthesis and respiration as well as re-examine their similarities and differences as a further reinforcement for the unit test on said topic! In the remaining time, we will do a Q & A briefing as a final review for the test on Tuesday, December 17, 2012.

Reinforcement: Analyzing and Writing Process

We will answer and correct yesterday’s classwork on the concept map and the comparative analysis on photosynthesis and cellular respiration. As a final reinforcement on photosynthesis and cellular respiration and to strengthen students’ skills in writing, they will further organize a series of factual ideas that occur in each process and write a 8-10 line paragraph on said topic.

Concept Map and Comparative Analysis of Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

We will answer and correct our crossword puzzle from the previous day on photosynthesis and cellular respiration. The students will proceed to complete a simple concept map and use it to do a comparative analysis between these two crucial processes, namely, photosynthesis and cellular respiration by using their characteristics as a reference guide in terms of where and when each process occur, how does it occur, and what goes in and comes out of each process.

Review: Cellular Respiration

We will answer and correct our classwork and homework on cellular respiration. If time permits, students will complete a crossword puzzle on photosynthesis and cellular respiration processes as a further reinforcement.

Periodic Trends and Ionization Energy

We will answer and correct our transparency on ionization energy and review Section 6.3 on periodic trends by completing and turning in the study guide on Section 6.3 that focuses on the periodic trends in terms of atomic and ionic radii, ionization energy with emphasis on the octet rule, and the trend and influence of the electronegativity of the elements.
