Review Section 14.2 for WEDNESDAY’S TEST ON SOLUTION CONCENTRATION

Students are to review for their Wednesday’s test: The percent by mass and the percent by volume as well as molarity and molality by practicing upon these concept through problem-solving situations on page 508, #’s 67-82.

Those students who finish their work on the  problems are to continue their work of reading comprehension in the packet for Section 14.3.

Project Completion and Section 18.1: Introduction to Ecology

Students are to finish their project on Geological Timeline and turn it in.

In the remaining time, students are to reinforce Section 18.1,  Introduction to Ecology, by completing the assigned study guide on said section in terms of how species result in an interactive community over time based upon the characteristics of their environment, and how ecological models that have been put forth by scientists explain species’ environment and the influence of humans upon species over time.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 22, 2013 TEST: SECTION 14.2, SOLUTION CONCENTRATION

Students will be evaluated upon their comprehension skills and problem-solving abilities in terms of being able to determine the percent by mass, the percent by volume, the molarity, and the molality of several solutions based upon various data that is given.

Lab Activity: Geological Timeline

Students will construct a geological timeline based upon the three major eras, which can be broken down into their periods, and these are further classified into epochs. Furthermore, students will state two characteristics of each period or epoch based upon information availability, and then they will analyze their timeline and draw the appropriate conclusions based on the analyses of their stated data.

ROUND 2: Limiting reactant and Percentage Yield

Due to the fact that the classroom teacher is at a professional development today, students are to review and practice further upon determining the limiting reactant and percentage yield as part of their final exam review as well as due to the fact of the overall low performance on the test of said topic last week.

REMINDER: THURSDAY, MAY 16, 2013: CHAPTER 15 TEST

Students will be evaluated upon Chapter 15 in terms of the several scientific contributions that were put forth by several evolutionary scientists that focus upon the evidence of evolution as well as evolution in action supported by several well-known and documented instances or examples!

Wednesday: Chapter 15 Homework Review for Chapter Test on Thursday!

We will answer and correct our review questions for the chapter test on Thursday, and we will elaborate briefly upon our scheduled geological timeline project for Friday. If time permits, we will do more reinforcement on the theory of evolution as a further practice for our chapter test on Thursday.

Homework: Reinforcing Molarity!

Students who remain in need of further practice on how to calculate molarity are to do problem #’s: 5, 6, and 8 on page 985.

Tomorrow we will learn how to prepare molar solution through quantitative analysis when we are given a stock solution of said substance. Furthermore, we will elaborate and practice upon diluting molar solution through quantitative analysis as well.
