Chapter 1 Test

Students will be evaluated upon Chapter 1 that focuses upon the nature of science that includes the scientific method as well as the Earth’s systems that we have discussed, studied and reinforced recently.

Lab Report Reminder: Students who started their lab experiment on time need to turn in their reports starting tomorrow (Friday). Those who started later, the lab report has to be turned in sometime next week if a grade is to be earned for this marking period because the first marking ends on October 11, 2013.

Homework!

Students who started their experiment on time should be in the process of collecting their last day data. The data needs to be analyzed and documented on the lab handout as well as the proper conclusion.

REMEMBER IF YOU ARE BEHIND SCHEDULE, YOU NEED TO GET STARTED SINCE THE PORJECT IS DUE NO LATER THAN OCT. 11, 2013-NO EXCEPTIONS!

*** TEST DAY IS THIS FRIDAY,  OCTOBER 4TH, 2013 ON CHAPTER ONE. REVIEW THE HANDOUTS THAT WERE MENTIONED IN CLASS TODAY!***

Homework!

Students are to continue their radish seeds data-collecting experiment.

Furthermore, students need to start studying their previous handouts on Chapter 1, Sections 1 through 3. More reviewing for Chapter 1 test tomorrow.

Tentative test day on  Chapter 1 is this Friday October 4th, 2013.

Homework!

Students are to study the handout on Earth Systems that we answered in class together today as we pointed out all the answers on the handout.

Reminder: Students do not forget to continue data collecting of your experiment.

NOTE: DUE TO THE SCARCITY OF RADISH SEEDS, THE LAB ACTIVITY ASSIGNMENT DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL OCT. 11, 2013.

Earth Systems Reinforcement

Students are to complete their classroom assignment reinforcement on Earth Systems that will be checked and graded on Monday!

Note: Students keep in mind that if you have NOT started collecting your experimental data by Sunday Morning, you are officially behind schedule.

Homework Due Date: Oct. 4, 2013! How does Acid Rain Affect Plants?

Students are to simulate the effect of acid rain upon vegetation in terms of creating a similar environment at home through the use of radish seeds.

Students have already sufficient information to get started upon their lab report in terms of the question being investigated, the materials and procedure that are needed and have been discussed.

The hypothesis needs to be thought out and written in an “If…, then” format.

Data needs to be monitored, collected, and recorded over a period of FIVE days followed by the analysis and conclusion portions of the lab report as was discussed and elaborated upon in class.

Note: This will count as a summative evaluation since its duration for completion will take several days.

Homework: Study Vocabulary and Review Scientific Notation Problems

Students need to study the six terms that we have defined and discussed in class, namely, line graph, bar graph, circle (pie) graph, scientific model, scientific theory, and scientific law. Furthermore, students are expected to practice upon the scientific notation problems that we have solved an discussed in class since they will be part of our chapter test when it is assigned later on next week.
