Quiz, Section 4-4: February 26, 2014
Students will be evaluated upon Section 4-4, Deformation of Earth’s Crust. Students are to review/study their powerpoint notes, their reading guide, as well as the review questions that we’ve done together today in class.
Section 4-4: Deformation of Earth’s Crust: PowerPoints Notes
Students are to study their PowerPoint notes on Deformation of Earth’s crust as a means of preparation for their upcoming quiz on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. It is highly recommended that students do the review starting tonight as the material is still fresh in their minds. Upon their return, the material will be reinforced once more prior to our quiz on Wednesday.
QUIZ: Thursday, February 13, 2014: Theory of Plate Tectonics
Students are to study Chapter 4, Section 3 for a quiz on Thursday of this week. Students need to review their class notes, the preview activity, T.H.I.E.V.E.S., their directed reading along with section 3 review questions.
Miniproject: Broken Plates (Past Due)
Regrettably, several students have chosen to ignore turning in their “Broken Plates” miniproject. Since it is a summative evaluation that was due on Monday, February 10, 2014, it is not too late to work on it and turn it in for partial credit. Note that partial credit is better than no credit or a score of zero!
MiniProject: Broken Plates Due by Monday, February 10, 2014
Reminder: Quiz on Chapter 4, Section 2: Restless Continents will be on Monday, the 10th of February 2014 due to the executive decision closing by the district on Friday morning the 7th of February, 2014 that was based upon extreme weather conditions!
Furthermore, since it is very cold outside, students need to stay warm indoors and do some studying to be better prepared for Monday’s quiz.
Miniproject, no change: Students need to complete their miniproject on “Broken Plates” by doing the cutting and pasting the given Earth’s plates in their proper position. Students can use pages 100 and 105 in their textbook to further their project along. Do remember that projects that are past due will be reduced by two summative points out of ten points possible.
Quiz: Friday, February 7th, 2014 Chapter 4, Section 2: Restless Continents
Students are to review their double journal entry for the main ideas of the section as well as their class notes along with their directed reading that was done in class as a means of preparation for Friday’s quiz. We will do further practice tomorrow to be better prepared for the quiz.
Quiz on Tuesday, Feb. 04, 2014: Inside the Earth
Students will be evaluated upon their comprehension skills that focus on the characteristics of Earth’s interior in terms of its layers’ composition, properties, relationship of the lithosphere to tectonic plates, and how scientists go about mapping Earth’s interior. Students need to study their class notes, their reading guide, and the section review questions to prepare for their quiz on Tuesday!
