HOMEWORK: The Rock Cycle Double Journal Entries

Students are to complete their double journal entries on the rock cycle using ages 28-34. Students have already done the front page as classwork; they need to do the back side of their double journal as homework. This handout will serve as one of the several study guides that the students will be given in class in the coming days.

TEST: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2014: CHARACTERISTICS OF MINERALS

Students will be evaluated tomorrow on the properties of minerals and their uses based upon our class discussion and the reinforcement study of the material. Students are highly recommended to review their study guides and their double journal entry to be better prepared for tomorrow’s test.

Students are to review their class notes from Tuesday for Wednesday’s post-test assessment on the topics of nature of science that we have discussed and reinforced in class for the past three weeks.

Students will review Monday and Tuesday to prepare for our post-test on the nature of science that is scheduled for Wednesday to determine students’ progress thus far this school year. We will review measurement variables that include mass, volume, calculate density, steps of the scientific method (including data analysis), and Earth’s systems.

Students are to complete their PowerPoint project that is based upon identifying, explaining, and giving an example upon each step of the scientific method as well as elaborating upon the significance of this method in scientific investigations.

Earth Systems: Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Geosphere, and Biosphere

Students will learn about how Earth’s systems are interdependent as the students will study the systems’ characteristics and be able to recognize how one system actually influences the other systems over time. students will have an opportunity to read, comment, and share their thoughts on said topic with their classmates as they undertake their reading comprehension assignment in class.
