Students are advised to go over the main ideas of the causes of volcanic eruptions in their double journal entries as we will review this section tomorrow and a study guide will be given as a means for preparation for the test in the next couple of days.
TEST: DECEMBER 15, 2015, SECTION 6.2: Effects of Volcanic Eruptions
Students are to be evaluated upon the Section 6.2: Effects of Volcanic Eruptions. Students are to study their class notes in terms of the small group instructions or their double journal entries that various students have experienced along with the concept map that they have been given and completed in class.
6.2: Effects of Volcanic Eruptions
Students are advised to read and study their class notes on the effects of volcanic eruptions as well as review the questions at the end of the section as a means of preparation for our next test/quiz early next week. Note that this section is very short with several illustrations to clarify the material as we have read and wrote about it in class. Furthermore, practice on the attached concept study guide.
Section 6.2: Effects of Volcanic Eruptions
Once students finish their quiz or test on Section 6.1: Volcanic Eruptions, they are to start or continue reading and writing down key points from Section 6.2: The Effects of Volcanic Eruptions as we will discuss this topic through a double journal and a reading guide where necessary.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2015 TEST: SECTION 6.3: VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS
Students will be evaluated upon volcanic eruptions in terms of their characteristics. Students are to study their class notes along with the concept map or double journal, whichever was given to each class section. Students need to review the section by going over the section review questions on P.161 as a reinforcement.
Chapter 6, Section 1: Volcanic Eruptions
Students need to review their notes that they have taken on Volcanic Eruptions in Chapter 6, Section 1 in class today as a means of preparation for our test/quiz on Wednesday or Thursday to be determined on Tuesday (tomorrow).
On Tuesday, hours 1, 3, & 5 will review the material in class prior to moving onto the effects of volcanic eruptions.
On Wednesday, hours 4 will review the material in class prior to moving onto the effects of volcanic eruptions.
HOURS, 1, 3, & 5: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 03, 2015: TEST ON SECTION 5.2: EARTHQUAKE MEASUREMENT
We will be having our test/quiz on Section 5.2: Earthquake Measurement on Thursday of this week.
Students are highly advised to study their class notes that they took as we sat in small groups to learn the material,; this was the part of the “note-taking” component of our L.I.N.K. strategy that we have been applying in class. Moreover, students are advised to read through the “knowledge” component that we have already put on the board, and students were asked to write down the newly learned material.
Furthermore, students are highly advised to review the series of questions that have been assigned at the end of the chapter to help them be better prepared for Thursday’s test/quiz!
Hour 4: Students are advised to review their double journal as part of their study guide as we will review this section on Thursday for Friday’s quiz on Chapter 5, Section 2.
Review Sections 5.1 & 5.2: What Are Earthquakes & Earthquake Measurement
Students are to review our study on earthquakes by answering the following questions in their notebooks:
pages 148-149: #’s 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11-15, 20-23
page 151: Interpreting Graphics: #’s 1, 2, & 3.
NOTE TO FOURTH (4TH) HOUR STUDENTS: YOU ARE TO DO THIS ASSIGNMENT AS HOMEWORK SINCE WE ARE BEHIND THE OTHER SECTIONS (HOURS 1, 3, & 5).
Study! Study! Study!
Students who have participated in the knowledge portion of the L.I.N.K. Strategy on earthquake measurement need to begin studying their notes as a means of preparation for our quiz on said topic on Thursday of this week.
We will reinforce the topic on earthquakes tomorrow in class prior to moving on to volcanoes, later on this week!
Hour 4: Quiz, Monday, November 30, 2015: Chapter 5, Section 1: What Are Earthquakes?
We will have a short quiz on our study of earthquakes in terms of where they occur, their causes, types of seismic waves, and the different plate motion and the kind of fault that results from each.
Students need to study their class notes and study guide for Section 1 of Chapter 5 from the note-taking process (L.I.N.K. strategy) that we did in class in small groups to be better prepared for the quiz on Monday.
