TEST: TUESDAY, MARCH 01, 2016: CHAPTER 1, SECTION 4: USING WATER WISELY

Students will be evaluated upon Chapter 1, Section 4: Using Water Wisely. This will include how polluted water is processed, cleaned, and returned to nature, the water properties that can affect its quality, the use of the water in industry, agriculture, and home as well as how we can we conserve water to protect our environment over time.

As has become our standard procedure, students are highly recommended to study our modified L.I.N.K. strategy that we have applied to this topic along with the study guide for this section. Moreover, it is a good idea to test oneself by answering the section review questions (1-11) on page 27 that includes a few critical thinking subsection.

Monday Reinforcement: Using Water Wisely

Since our section on using water wisely is a bit longer than other sections based on the given details, we will reinforce and review this section to be better prepared for Tuesday’s test/quiz.

It is in the best interest of all students to show up to class and be on time.

EFFECTIVE TUESDAY, MARCH 01, 2016: MAKEUP TESTS

IT APPEARS THAT SEVERAL STUDENTS HAVE BEEN CHOOSING TO DELAY TEST-TAKING WHEN IT HAS BEEN SCHEDULED. THEREFORE, EFFECTIVE TUESDAY, MARCH 01, 2016, ANY STUDENT THAT MISSES THE TEST WILL HAVE ONLY 72 HOURS (THREE SCHOOL DAYS) TO MAKE UP THE TEST UNLESS THERE ARE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS ILLNESS THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION, HOSPITALIZATION, OR DEATH IN THE FAMILY. DO REMEMBER THAT TWO GRANDMA’s/TWO GRANDPA’S CAN PASS AWAY ONLY ONCE IN A LIFETIME!!!!!

DISTRICT TESTING: PSAT

Students will have an opportunity to PRACTICE on the SAT as a means of preparation for high school.

The test is scheduled to last until about 12:15-12:30. Students will be allowed to have breaks when the test section(s) are complete. Materials will be provided.

Students are advised to get a good night sleep and have a good breakfast prior to coming to school as AA has been cancelled for tomorrow ONLY as they will report directly to FIRST hour!

Also it is advised that students have one or two #2 pencils on hand.

TEST:MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2016: CHAPTER 1 SECTIONS 2 AND 3

Students will be evaluated upon the Stream and River Deposits as well as Water Underground (Sections 2 & 3 in Chapter 1).

Students have been informed to focus on their standard class notes that they have put together such as the R.A.N. strategy and the modified L.I.N.K. strategy that they have worked on earlier in the week combined with the notes that the teacher has given them along with the study guides that help facilitate the learning process as these are answered and verified in class as a whole group.

February 16, 2015: Water Underground

Students will have an opportunity to learn about Water Underground through a strategy known as Oral Retelling. Students will read, write and orally discuss key ideas or concepts, share out loud with their classmates, and then rewrite a summary based on their written key ideas or concepts that they have share with others.
