Students will reinforce the characteristics of the sun by answering eight (8) questions about its structure, composition, and its solar activities that affect our planet over time.
Classwork Reinforcement: Chapter 3, Section 2: The Sun: Our Very Own Star
Optional Test Retake Friday, May 20th, 2016, Chapter 4 : A Family of Planets
Any student who feels that can perform better on the test retake is highly recommended to do so this Friday. Remember that the concepts and ideas are the same and so are the study materials for this topic.
Note: Since it is a retake, no other scheduled retake time will be made since the classroom teacher has allocated class time for the retake, which is this Friday only!
BROADCAST CLASS (6TH HOUR): Investigative Report Assignment
Students who lost their handouts, can print their own from the two attachments!

REMINDER! REMINDER! REMINDER! MONDAY, MAY 16, 2016: CHAPTER 4 TEST: A FAMILY OF PLANETS
Since several students performed below their abilities’ level on the quiz on outer planets, we will be having a comprehensive Chapter 4 test on Monday, May 16, 2016. This test will include the inner as well as the outer planets in addition to our study of the moon and the smaller objects in our solar system such as comets, asteroids, and meteorites.
What to study?
As has been our standard procedure for any test preparation, students are to review their standard class notes that include our L.I.N.K. strategy on the planets, the double journal on the moon, and the graphic organizer on the smaller bodies in our solar system. Furthermore, to reinforce this topic, students are highly advised to review and practice upon the section review questions that are given at the end of each section for inner planets, outer planets, and the moon. Note that the graphic organizer for the smaller objects in our solar system should be sufficient as a review for this abbreviated topic.
Chapter 3, Section 2: The Sun
Students will have an opportunity to learn about the star that “breathes life” into our planet, namely, the Sun. Students will study its structure, composition, the energy that it generates along with its surface activity and be able to identify how this activity influences our planet over time.

Reminder: Students are to change the answers to these questions into paragraph format. See the attachment for the list of questions!
Smaller Objects in Our Solar System
Students are to complete the graphic organizer based on smaller objects in our solar system by using their textbook and the pages assigned. Students will define each term in their own words based on their understanding, place each term in a meaningful, scientific sentence, and diagram or sketch a picture or a symbol of each concept.

Study Guides: Inner and Outer Planets
Students are to use the two attachments below for the inner and outer planets as a means of study guides to further reinforce our study and discussion of the planets in our solar system. Please feel free to print and answer them, and keep them as a reference to prepare for our upcoming tests including the NWEA in the coming days.
FRIDAY, MAY 06, 2015: TEST: CHAPTER 4: A FAMILY OF PLANETS
Students will be evaluated upon the inner and outer planets based upon their general characteristics that we have discussed and reinforced in class for the past several sessions.
As usual, students are advised to review their class notes based upon the L.I.N.K. strategy that we have applied as well as the review questions that we have answered and corrected in class. Furthermore, since it is impossible to list every characteristic for each planet, students have been directed to simply re-read the sections on the inner and outer planets once more to refresh their memories about what has been discussed in class as a means of reinforcement.
