Cornell Notes: Chapter 6, Section 1: Volcanic Eruptions

For those of you who have failed to complete their work on the Cornell notes, you are highly advised to do so, since you MAY have the opportunity to use them on our upcoming Chapter 6 test, just before Christmas vacation.

Note that we will no longer score them since we have done so in the first two marking periods.

If you choose to avoid writing your Cornell notes, you will not have anything to utilize as a reference source during your upcoming chapter test. This means that it is to your advantage to do them now as a means of preparation for your future endeavor, especially since you will have SEVERAL short responses on the upcoming evaluation.

TEST: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 08, 2016: CHAPTER 5, SECTIONS 2 & 3

Students will be evaluated upon Chapter 5, Earthquakes, that focuses on what these dire events are and how we can measure them.

What to study? What to study? What to study?

1) Students are very highly recommended to study their created Cornell notes that have been supplemented by the teacher’s PowerPoint notes.

2) Students are to study the key concepts and ideas in the chapter that were selectively reinforced.

3) Students are to study the end of each section because there are a series of reinforcement review questions to help them determine how well they understand the ideas and concepts in that section. Go over ALL of them in each section.

4) Students are to check the iblog for any previous attachments that are related to the chapter only, dating back to November 27, 2016 since the classroom teacher has informed the students that they are responsible for any postings and to stay up-to-date on the iblog postings.

Mini-Project: Earthquakes

Students will have an opportunity to study some of the largest and deadliest earthquakes that have occurred during 1990-2011.

The students will select five of these natural disasters, and research a few data points about each. Then the students will script an essay of one to two pages, as they will compare and contrast them in terms of their timelines, locations, magnitudes, fatalities, and other pertinent information that will enlighten the reader about our Earth’s deformations that have brought about extreme changes to our Earth’s surface over time.
