District Summer 2017 Suggestions!

Now that the school year is winding down and everyone is looking forward to a great summer vacation, the MeL team would like to remind everyone of the great resources Michigan residents have free access to through the Michigan eLibrary. Families can find resources to help ease the summer slide, read eBooks, conduct research, create reading lists, and prepare for college, careers, and high stakes tests like the SAT.

To help promote the resources, some of our content providers have created short videos that highlight their database(s) and how students can use them over the summer.  We have created a playlist on the MeL YouTube Channel (https://goo.gl/fDC4Be) and a 2017 Summer Resources Letter that can be either emailed (or printed and sent home) to Michigan K-12 families.  Please help distribute this letter to as many schools and families as possible.  You may also want to subscribe to the MeL YouTube Channel, so you keep up to date on the latest with the Michigan eLibrary!

The letter is available in the following formats:

TEST REMINDER: THE SOLAR SYSTEM, WED., JUNE 07, 2017 PART 1

Students will be evaluated upon the solar system based on the sun, the inner and outer planets, and the small solar bodies. This test will be divided into two parts. Part 2 to be a take-home and is due the next school day on Thursday, June 08, 2017.

What to study? What to study? What to study?

1) Students are very highly recommended to study their classroom notes from our PowerPoint presentation, as well as any created notes through their strategy of choice for all sections.

2) Students are to study the key concepts and ideas in the chapter(s) that were selectively reinforced by the creation of the Frayer models or graphic organizer or mini-project, depending on the material studied and reinforced.

3) Students are to study any bellwork that was done in class, the end of each section review, because there are a series of reinforcement review questions to help them determine how well they understand the ideas and concepts in that section. Go over ALL of them in each section, as well as the chapter review that we normally complete on the day before the test.

4) Students are to check the iblog for any previous and pertinent attachments that are related to the solar system, dating back to May 22, 2017, since the classroom teacher has informed the students that they are responsible for any posting and to stay up-to-date on the iblog postings.
