Students will be evaluated upon the six types of graphs that were assigned last Friday, October 12, 2018 through a foldable creation to be pasted into their Interactive Student Notebook.

Homework: Speed Problems

Students are to complete their worksheet on speed problems by tonight. This is a non-negotiable piece of learning, since we will have a test on it in the near future.

Students will be asked to go up to the board and demonstrate their learning skills tomorrow.

UNIT TEST: THURSDAY, OCT. 11, 2018: SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY

Students will be evaluated upon our scientific inquiry that they have been working on throughout this marking period. As always, students’ interactive notebooks will be very helpful in studying many of the ideas and concepts that we have been learning and practicing upon as we have explored various tasks.

Students are being provided with a study guide on said material below, as well as a handout of the same will be distributed.

Students are highly encouraged to review and study the material given on the study guide in order to be better prepared for our unit test on Thursday, October 11, 2018.

Unit 0 (Scientific Inquiry) – Study Guide

  1. Look at a picture and write observations and inferences.

  2. Define and give an example for the following words:

A. Prototype; Model; Engineer; Engineering Design Process

B. Criteria; Constraint; Human Impact; Environmental Impact

  3. Name 3 scientific concepts we discussed so far.

Homework: Lockheed Martin WindTracer Article

Students remember to annotate your WindTracer article if it were assigned to your class hour. In your annotation process, make sure that you have followed the annotation process in your rubric that you have glued down in your interactive student notebook.

Also on Monday, we will review our lab activity on your Lander, since many students are still struggling with elementary grade mathematical computations.

If you were absent for a school-related activity, check your student-connect for any pertinent comment that you need to follow upon with your classroom teacher before or after school and NOT during class time, since this is a personal issue for you.

Lab Activity: Build A Lander

Students: Note that tomorrow we will be finishing the lab activity with the key takeaways (things that need to have been learned).

If you are absent, then you will have to redo the lab activity in its entirely on your own by setting time up with the classroom teacher after school on Fridays, because it was a group assignment, and not individually done. Do note that the whole lab takes 3 class periods, meaning that you will need three after school Fridays set up by the classroom teacher, based on the classroom teacher time, and NOT the student’s time,  for after school hours.

Since it is a summative score with three Fridays, you may NOT complete it before the end of first marking period and a 50% score will be given until completion.

Best course of action: Show up tomorrow and be ready to work!

***Those who were absent on Thursday, October 4th, 2018, as you know, see me for the standard Fridays setup after school at 3:10 pm.***
