Simulation: Gravity and Orbits

Students if you did not finish and turn in your work, using the following website (Copy and paste in the web bar address):

https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/gravity-and-orbits/latest/gravity-and-orbits_en.html

Draw motion of planets, moons, and satellites to show how gravity is the force that controls the motion of our solar system, and identify the variables that affect the strength of gravity, as well as predict how the motion would change if gravity strengthened or weakened over time.

Article: Homework: What Is an Orbit?

Attention all Students: Remember to complete ALL the summaries and annotate the pictures in the picture boxes given.

Tomorrow as you work briefly on an assignment, I will be rotating amongst you and score your work out of 20 formative points. Many of you DO need the points. Do your homework. Study the remaining vocabulary that we did today in class for a possible quiz on the handout next week. More information to follow on that topic.

Bellwork Evaluation Scores

Students: Bellwork evaluation scores have been posted.

Congratulation to many of you who focused enough to get the work done upon entering the classroom, while others continue to either dilly-dally (waste time) or simply ignore the entire work.

Failure to have performed well on the bellwork is a sign of lack of focusing or not writing down the proper responses when we go over the answers.

Unfortunately, bellwork makeup DOES NOT exist. It is simply a review of what was discussed earlier to determine who is on-task upon entry and who is outside looking in!

BELLWORK EVALUATION: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 07, 2018

Students will be evaluated upon their daily bellwork as they enter the class and supposedly commence their work. Note that this will be a summative score.

Using their bellwork notebook as a reference source, students will have an opportunity to answer the set of the assigned very brief questions to reflect their learning processes and behavioral attitudes upon entering the classroom and how well on-task they really are as the class period begins.

Students were informed last Friday, November 30, 2018 about this coming bellwork evaluation. They have been highly advised to make sure that their bellwork notebook is up to date so that they will be ready for this evaluation.

This evaluation will definitely give parents/guardians a window into the student as s/he enters the classroom and commences the expected work and how well they are on-task on a daily basis.

Note that students will attempt to give parents/guardian excuses for lack of good performance, but it is their daily task to make sure that their daily work is up to date, as it is scored periodically.

Due Thursday: Kinetic Energy Data Graph Worksheet

Students: Since you have been allowed to keep the data graph worksheet on kinetic energy in order to use it as part of your study guide for this week’s two-part test, it will be graded on Thursday in class.

Failure to have it on that day-THURSDAY, will results in 50% reduction of the score. Thus you will earn half of the credit for not having it.

At home, in my locker, left it in another room, whatever, it will all amount to the same consequence of being late.
