Students will have the opportunity to document the fact that whether or not they have learned the stoichiometry process that has been based upon the plethora of problem-solving situations that we have put forth and practiced upon for the past two weeks!
Monday, the 23rd of April 2012, Moment of Truth: Stoichiometry Test
Reinforcement: Concept Review
Students are to review the several concepts and ideas on inheritance patterns and human genetics that we have discussed and elaborated upon in class for the past week.
Reinforcement: Stoichiometry
Students are to complete solving the three assigned problems on stoichiometry in terms of moles to moles, moles to mass and mass to mass as a final preparation for the summative evaluation that is scheduled on Monday, April 23, 2012.
Review: Stoichiometry Calculations
Students will review as a reinforcement how to determine mole to mole ratios, do quantative analyses of moles to grams, grams to moles, and grams to grams through stoichiometry. Assignment is on page 983: #’s 8, 9, 10, & 11.
Reinforcement: Human Genetics
Students will read and reinforce the topic on human genetics based upon our class discussion. They will analyze a pair of pedigrees, give examples of traits or genetic disorders that are caused by patterns of inheritance, and analyze some of these disorders, as well as describe their screening during pregnancy or possible prevention and the optional treatments that are currently available.
Human Genetics
Students will elaborate upon human genetics in terms of analyzing a pedigree, distinguishing between a sex-influenced trait and a sex-linked trait. Furthermore, students will be able to differentiate between traits that are caused by a multiple allele as compared to a polygenic inheritance. Moreover, students will learn about the genetic disease detection process and the optional treatments that we currently have at our disposal.
Mass to Mass Stoichiometry
Students are to reinforce the mass to mass stoichiometry by practicing on problem-solving situations on page 377 (#15 & #16) as well as page 393 problem #67.
Human Genetics
Students will review the behavior of chromosomes and their effects upon offspring and elaborated upon human genetics in terms of their abilities to explain a pedigree and patterns of inheritance.
They will also elaborate upon polygenic and complex characters as well as x-linked and sex-influenced traits. Furthermore, students will become familiar with the processes that involve detecting and treating genetic diseases.
Mole to Mass Stoichiometry
Students are to reinforce moles to mass stoichiometry by practicing on problem-solving situations on page 393 (#’s: 60, 64, 65, & 66)
Mole-Mole Ratios
Over the Easter break, students are to review and practice problem-solving on mole to mole ratios on page 375 (#11 & #12) as well as page 983 (#6 & #7).
