We will discuss, elaborate, and reinforce the evolutionary process in action by commenting upon convergent and divergent evolutionary processes as well as contrast artificial selection with natural selection, and the role that coevolution plays in the daily lives of organisms.
Reinforcement Homework: Percentage Yield
Students are to reinforce the percentage yield topic by solving problem #’s: 14 and 15 on p.983! NOTE THAT WE WILL BE HAVING A TEST ON PERCENTAGE YIELD ON TUESDAY, MAY 8TH, 2012.
Homework: Percentage Yield & Limiting Reactant
Students are to practice on determining the percentage yield through the use of the limiting reactant by solving problem #’s: 93, 94, & 96 on p.388.
Sec.11.4: Percentage Yield
We will discuss and reinforce the method of determining the percentage yield through the stoichiometric process that we have learned, applied, and put into practice.
May 3rd & 4th: Evolution: Constructing a Timeline
Students will work in pairs for two-class sessions to construct an evolutionary timeline of organisms that lived and have lived on Earth for the past 600 million years. Students will be provided with the pertinent information for their construction timeline process.
Class Discussion: Evidence of Evolution
We will discuss the several inferences about the history of life that are supported by evidence from fossils and rocks. Additionally, we will examine how biogeography provide evidence that species evolve adaptations to their environment. Furthermore, we will elaborate upon how anatomy and development of organisms provide the evidence of shared ancestry. Moreover, we will examine the use of biological molecules with other types of analysis of evolutionary relationships as well as the ongoing development of evolutionary theory.
Test on Wednesday, May 2, 2012: Limiting Reactant
Students will be evaluated upon their skills of determining the limiting reactant in a chemical reaction as well as the reactant that is in excess, and the amount of the excess reactant that is leftover after the reaction is complete.
Homework: Reinforcement on Limiting Reactant
Students are to practice further on determining the limiting reactant, the excess reactant, and the masses of the products that are produced. Therefore, they are to solve question #’s: 12 and 13 on page 983.
Homework: Review History of Evolutionary Thoughts
Students are to reinforce the evolutionary thoughts of the several scientists that we are studying by answering question #’s: 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 on page 301.
Theory of Evolution: Sec.15.1: Evolutionary Thoughts
We will have an open discussion on the work of the several scientists who have put forth their evolutionary thoughts, and we will reinforce them.
