Inheritance Patterns & Human Genetics

Students will distinguish between sex chromosomes and autosomes, the role of chromosomes in sex determination, how an X- or Y- linked gene influences the characteristics of inheritance, the result of crossing-over based upon the genes that are in linkage groups, … Continue reading

Chapter 10 Test: DNA, RNA, & Protein Synthesis

Students will be evaluated on Wednesday, APRIL 4TH, upon the scientific discovery of the inherited genetic material, DNA, its structure, its replication process, as well as its significance in the process of protein synthesis that is based upon the processes of transcription … Continue reading

Chapter 10 Review

Students and teacher will answer and discuss the remaining set of questions as a precusor to Chapter 10 test on Wednesday. If time permits, we will view the process of protein synthesis (transcription and translation) as one last reinforcement.

Project: DNA Presentation!

On Monday, each student will have an opportunity to present his/her DNA molecule to the class. Each student will explain the DNA structure AS WELL AS  its replication process. Each student was given a rubric outline for the evaluation process.

Reinforcement & Review: Protein Synthesis

Students will elaborate upon their homework on making proteins as well as explain how mutation(s) tend to affect the newly synthesized protein molecule. Furthermore, students will contrast DNA with RNA based upon their major characteristics.

Making Proteins!

Students will make four different protein molecules that are based upon a segment of the DNA, i.e., a gene, using the processes of transcription and translation. Furthermore, students will analyze their work by commenting upon their process of protein synthesis.

Protein Synthesis

We will discuss the process of making proteins under the directions of the DNA molecule that are based upon the transcription and translation processes that include several participant molecules, namely, RNA polymerase, mRNA, codons, rRNA, anticodons, tRNA, dehydration synthesis, & … Continue reading
