L.I.N.K. Strategy: Earthquakes and Then Volcanoes

Students will take an active part in participating in the L.I.N.K. Strategy (List, Inquiry, Notes, Knowledge) that is based on earthquakes and volcanoes. They will make a list based on their prior knowledge on earthquakes; then they will commence asking questions about what they would like to learn about earthquakes. The third step in this process will be their note-taking procedure based on the reading material as the teacher will guide them through this important step. Finally, students will identify the facts that they have acquired or learned throughout this process as they attempt to answer several of their questions as a class.

Similarly, the same strategy will be applied to learn about volcanoes.

Note that this strategy will allow students to work more together and help one another when it comes to the inquiry, note-taking, and knowledge components.
