Greetings: Dr. Maleyko has an exciting opportunity to extend to our middle school students for the 2017-18 school year. He is expanding the concept of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) to include middle school students and the Executive Directors. The purpose of the Superintendent & Executive Directors’s Student Advisory Council (SEDSAC) is to provide leadership opportunities for 7th and 8th grade students with a focus on community service, social issues that impact their education and overall district related concerns. The first meeting for the SEDSAC will convene December 6, 2017 but the on-line application process begins tomorrow. Students may apply if they meet the following criteria: (1) Excellent attendance (2) 2.5 G.P.A. or higher (3) Willing to collaborate with fellow students (4) Demonstrate problem solving, creative thinking, initiative, and a desire to make positive change (5) Exhibit communication & presentation skills (6) Adhere to the policies in the District Student Code of Conduct (7) Attend monthly meetings during the school day and balance your academics (8) You are in the 7th or 8th grade. Two years of successful student leadership at the high school level has ignited a spark for our middle school students to have a similar experience. The purpose of the council is to provide leadership opportunities for 7th and 8th grade students with a focus on community service, social issues that impact their education and overall district related concerns. The Superintendent/Executive Directors’s Student Advisory Council (SEDSAC) for middle school students will debut December, 2017.
