Today’s bellwork was a lateral thinking problem that encourages students to be good listeners, questioners, and outside-the-box thinkers.

We then finished our discussion on Sec 3-4, Linear Programming by doing a few example problems.

The remainder of the period we reviewed some problems that will be on Friday’s Test.

Hwk #7 is due today.

Hwk #8 is due tomorrow(graph paper needed)

Hwk #9 is due Wednesday (graph paper is needed)

Test #1 Friday, students given review today.

Retakes for Quiz #1 must be completed by Friday.

Bellwork was four ACT type questions for students to practice on.

The remainder of the period we discussed writing and graphing a system of linear inequalities to was then used to maximize a given situation (Sec 3-4).

Hwk #6 is due today.

Hwk #7 is due on Monday.  Use matrices to solve systems of equations not Elimination or Substitution.

Bellwork was review for writing a system of equations in three variables then solving these kinds of systems using matrices on the graphing calculator.

The remainder of the period we discussed graphing linear inequalities on the x-y plane and graphing a system of linear inequalities (Sec 3-3).  We also began discussing how to model the constraints of a given situation using inequalities (begin sec 3-4).

Hwk #6 is due tomorrow

Hwk #7 is due Monday(solve equations using matrices).

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Bellwork reviewed writing systems of equations and solving them using matrices on the graphing calculator.

The remainder of the period we discussed systems of equations in three variables (Sec 3-6) and what they represent graphically/visually.  Students then learned how to solve a system of three equations using matrices on the graphing calculator and what these solutions/non-solutions represent.

Hwk #5 is due today.

No bellwork today.  Students were given Quiz #1.

The remainder of the period students were asked to try solving problems involving systems of linear equations in order to measure their prior knowledge of the subject.  Topics included:

  • Telling the number of solutions to a system of linear equations without graphing.
  • Using a graphing calculator to find the solution to a system of linear equations by finding where the graphs intersect.
  • Finding the solution to a system of linear equations by using the algebraic method of Substitution.

No hwk due today.

Hwk #5 will be due Wednesday, September 25.

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Today’s bellwork had students write equations of lines and solve a story problem involving perimeter.

The remainder of the period we began our discussion of Sec 7-6, Operations with Functions and Composite Functions.

Hwk #3 is due today

Hwk #4 is due on Thursday

Quiz #1 is Friday
