Honors Choir News!
Our students did a nice job singing Halloween Songs for the students in grades 3, 4 and 5 on Friday afternoon. Now we begin to think about and prepare for our Winter Concert. We will be performing a few songs, the band and orchestra students in grades 6, 7 & 8 will also be performing.
If you would like to join the Honors Choir for the December Concert you must plan to attend our Wednesday and Friday rehearsals. You can begin practicing the songs if you go to our Honors Choir Music Club page. Two of the songs are already posted for your practicing pleasure.
5th Graders are working on a new song.
Neesa is a Seneca Nation song about the first full moon of Winter. We have just begun practice and have added the bass part. For our practice though we are using bass, alto and soprano. More instruments will be added soon. Check back in a few weeks for our final performance video.
Here is an updated version – Haidarah’s class has added 3 more instrument parts to their performance. You will have to click on this Youtube link to view the video. Click Here

Salina Honors Choir and Music Club!
Yes, we’ve added to our name slightly since I plan to add some Orff Instruments, Recorders and Hand Drums to our mix of sound this year.
Our first performance will be on Friday, Oct. 31 (AKA Halloween). We will be performing a ghostly selection of fun October songs. Our audience will be parents, 3rd graders from across the street and our own 4th and 5th grade students. The concert will be in the afternoon. There is a possibility of a movie being shown after the concert but that is uncertain. Look for more details to be posted very soon.

Listening Survey for 5th graders
If you are in fifth grade you will have the opportunity to select a band or stringed instrument to participate in the instrumental music program this year.
Ms. McUmber will be your music teacher for this class which will meet once per week for 45 minutes. We will use this music survey to help us determine if you are a good candidate for the instrumental music program. You can practice listening from home to be better prepared for the survey next week.

Why an “A” is not enough….
This is an excellent video demonstrating why an “A” is not enough. An “A” can mean you are permitted one mistake on a test. This concert band will demonstrate what that will sound like when each child makes one mistake.
