A Note On Assignments

Hello all!

First of all, it’s been incredible to “virtually” meet all of you this week. Whether it was hearing your voice, seeing your face, reading what you wrote in the chat or email, or any combination of these, it was nice to have students to connect with.

Meow we still have one day left in the week, but I wanted to take a moment to update you all on assignments for this week, specifically “I Do” assignments. If you did not complete an “I Do” assignment then I have marked it as “Missing” in the gradebook. For many of you, this has turned you’re grade into an “E.”

You may be thinking “Mr. Mustonen, 2020 is already scary enough and now you’re trying to start me off with an E?! Oh the humanity!” and then you faint. Well fear not! You can still compelte those missing assignments this week and next week for NO Late Penalty. See, who said 2020 is all bad?

The reason I’m putting those assignments in as “Missing” is to help you become used to seeing what will happen when you miss online assignments. It helps to stay on top of things (like chairs or beds).

-Mr. Mustonen

Accessing our Schoology and your first assignment

Hello everyone!

It has been wonderful to see some of you on Zoom and to hear from you through email! It may not feel like it, but we are making progress in our adventure into online learning. A few things…

First: If you are in my 2nd or 3rd hour, please complete the Google Form that was sent to your email by 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 2nd. The title of the email was “2nd Hour Assignments and Schoology” or “3rd Hour Assignments and Schoology.”

If you are in my 4th, 5th, and 6th hour, you will receive a different Google Form tomorrow. Stay tuned =)

Second, today, if you are in my 2nd or 3rd hour, you received an email with an access code for your hour’s 7th grade Ancient World History class with the one and only Mr. Mustonen (at Woodworth). If you are in my 4th, 5th, or 6th hour then you will receive your class’s access code tomorrow. Still, stay tuned =)

Use that access code to “enroll” in your hour’s Schoology page. Instructions for how to do so can be found here:

^That document also contains the directions for your first assignment, which is to become familiar with our class’s Schoology page.

Third: If you’re reading this thinking “Wow, this is really confusing because I feel lost, like I’m learning a whole new language, and there’s a ton to process” then congratulations! You’re already thinking like a historian! Ok, that was a joke, but it’s partially true…

The reason I’m sending out the links and forms on different days is because I want you to get used to A Days and B Days. The more we work at it, the less confusing it becomes. Practice, practice, practice!

WHEW, ok, that was a long post. If you have any questions, please email me at mustonj@dearbornschools.org

Getting to know you!

Today we brainstormed different topics we could use to talk about ourselves. Meow it’s your turn to make your brainstorms a reality!

Update: These assignments are only for my A-Squared students, so if you’re in my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th hour hold off on doing them. I’m excited to learn more about all of you, but I’ll get the chance next week!

First, watch this video on how to send an email:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/13-_0hT3wOpQiy54WfXeYoLY_NNKSW9pR/view

Second, send me an email about yourself! I want to know about you so make sure it’s at least five sentences! Some topics can be…
-My favorite movie is…
-My favorite book is…
-I love the color…
-If I could travel anywhere in the world it would be…
-If I was stranded on a desert island I would bring…
-The most exciting adventure I went on was…
-Or any other idea that comes to mind

Looking forward to reading all about you!
