Good evening Oakman Families! Happy Sunday!
This week, there are some new updates with teaching and learning! Every week on Monday a weekly slide will be posted to show you all of the assignments for the week. This is so on Friday’s (In addition to learning that will occur on Friday’s) you can look back to make sure you completed all of the assignments for the week and catch up.
Math, each week I will be posting, on Monday’s, a video of me teaching a lesson. You will watch that lesson and then everyday will complete practice problems that I give you. IF you are not caught up to our math lesson on Zearn, your job is to complete those Zearn lessons and catch up. For example, if you are not on Math Lesson #17 on Monday 4/20/20 for Zearn you need to make sure to go back and complete those lessons. (Zearn will be used for extra support, I will also be posting additional videos for support if you need any additional help).
Reading, we will be utilizing Benchmark from now on. Every week, on Monday’s, I will be posting a mini lesson of myself teaching you, you need to make sure to follow along. Then throughout the week there will be additional lessons with worksheets (posted on google classroom) for you to complete. We are also doing a Novel Study, this means I will be reading a chapter to you every day (links to the videos on the weekly template). There are two documents posted in google classroom, under the novel study tab, these documents you will complete as I am reading the chapter to you and as you go back and reread, our novel study is on Black Beauty. Everyone should be reading for 30 minutes a day, every student has been assigned a book in Benchmark, make sure you are reading through those for 30 minutes every day.
Writing, we will be continuing to complete our writing prompts, different ones everyday. It is your job to write them out, send me a picture (either to my email or ClassDojo). It is vital that you are writing and completing these prompts everyday. You need to write 5-7 sentences based on the topic provided.
Social Studies, every Monday and Wednesday you will go into the Michigan Open Book into google classroom, open up the assignment posted on Google Classroom for that day and complete the stop sign questions on the google document. Once you have completed the stop sign questions, turn it in into google classroom.
Science, we will be conducting a new Mystery Science lesson every week. You need to make sure you click on the student link (into the weekly template) to access the activity and videos. You DO NOT have to complete the activities, just make sure you watch all of the videos and complete the assessment posted on Google Classroom. Make sure when you submit that you submit it on Google Classroom.
Spelling, everyday you are to practice your spelling words, they are posted in the google slide that was posted on Monday! Make sure you complete your spelling tests every Friday!
If any additional support is needed please sign up for a one-on-one conference by clicking the link below, this document has been posted each week for me to help you in any other way. Students have utilized this and have found them to be extremely helpful!
