In class, we’ve been gathering evidence on whether or not high schools in Dearborn should start later, based on these high-quality sources.
Students have shared their evidence with each other, and we used that to group pieces of text evidence together that are all making the same claim.

Based on those claims, we were able to begin writing our thesis statements (Subject + Opinion + Claim1 + Claim2 + Claim3) and planning the topic sentences for our body paragraphs (S+O+C1), (S+O+C2), and (S+O+C3).
Later this week, we’ll begin filling in the reasoning part of each CER body paragraph, and then we’ll focus on tacking on an introduction with an engaging hook, and a conclusion that wraps things up.
