• Our core vocab word of the week was “put”
• We practiced using the word “put” in many ways. The children put letters on our chicka boom boom tree, put on puzzle pieces, put on their lunch shirts, put on their coats
• Our letter of the week was “P”
• We practiced the letter “P” by reading an interactive book and searching through our rice bin for objects that start with the letter “P,” we did a pig bingo sheet, and sang letter “P” songs

• The children practiced counting and number recognition with our feed me pretend dog game

PEEK AT THE WEEK

• We reviewed core vocab words of the week was “on” and “in”
• We practiced using the word “on” and “in” in many ways. The children put on hats, put on puzzle pieces, put on their lunch shirts, put on their coats.  We put pegs in jars, our hands in mittens, and our feet in shoes.
• We reviewed the letters we have learned so far A-O
• The students listened to an interactive story about clothes we wear in the winter and matched the picture to the pages then we used bingo markers to color in mittens
• We worked together to make a 5 senses counting book. We not only worked on counting and number recognition but identifying body parts and talking about what each part can do (ex: nose can smell).  We also practiced gluing
• The children worked on their fine motor skills with several different tasks including fine motor jars, puzzles, and block stacking.  We practiced tracing lines, first with Ms. Ashley’s help then on our own to make a snowman
• We worked on building stamina during read to self as well as book handling skills

• We found a big cardboard box in the hallway and brought it back to the room to explore. We like to crawl inside and put a flap down then knock to see if anyone is home
• We practiced color recognition with an interactive colored snowflake book
• We read “There was a Cold Lady who Swallowed some Snow”
• The students listened to the story “Snowmen All Year” then we painted snowmen and finished the sentence, “If I had a snowman all year we would…”
• We practiced sorting fruit by color
• The students worked on their fine motor skills with puzzles, fine motor jars, and pegs

• We welcomed a new friend to our class this week.  Welcome to Snow, Ryad!
• Our core vocab word of the week was “no”
• We practiced using the word “no” in many ways. The children picked foods that they do not like from a set of pictures, we also practiced saying “no thank you”
• Our letter of the week was “N”
• We practiced the letter “N” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “N,” we did a nest bingo sheet, and sang letter “N” songs
• We practiced color recognition with an interactive colored mitten books and sorted cardboard socks by color
• We read a book call “Who Lives in the Cold” and then sorted penguins by big and small
• The students practiced identifying the first letter in their name when we read our class book then we did a rainbow write of the first letter in our names
• We worked on one to one correspondence with colored bears and an ice cube tray. We also used the colored bears to practice one to one correspondence by matching the color of the bear to the color of a dot then counting how many bears we used
• We read many books including, “Snowmen All Year,” “The Little Red Sled,” and “The First Snow Fall”
• The children started learning about their five senses. We listened to a song about our senses then read a story about our senses and popcorn.  Next, we made popcorn in our popcorn machine and talked about what we could hear, smell, feel, taste, and see

• Our letter of the week was “M”
• We practiced the letter “M” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “M,” we did a mouse bingo sheet, and sang letter “M” songs
• We decorated holiday cookies with Mrs. Gallery and Ms. Staci
• The children practiced identifying colors with a reindeer cookie sheet game and poem
• We worked on identifying the first letter in our name during morning attendance and by reading our class book
• The children practiced counting and number recognition with the poem and cookie sheet game “5 Little Gingerbread Men”
• We read many books including “Eight Jolly Reindeer,” “Gingerbread Baby,” and “Santa Mouse”
• The children sang and rang bells along to jingle bells
• We made mint flavored hot chocolate and everyone had a chance to taste it. We graphed who liked it and who did not

• We worked on identifying the first letter in our name during morning attendance and by reading our class book
• The children practiced sorting jingle bells by color
• We read many books including “Present Under the Tree,” “Maisy makes Gingerbread,” and “ Winter is for Snow”
• The children sang and rang bells along to jingle bells
• We read books with our Unified 3^rd and 4^th grade friends who join us for the last 30 mins of the day every Friday

• We practiced using the word “kick” in many ways. The children took turns kicking a ball while the rest of the students told them to “kick, kick”, we played a file folder game and told the boy “don’t kick” objects that start with the letter k

• We practiced the letter “K” by reading an interactive book and searching through our bean bin for objects that start with the letter “K,” we did a kite bingo sheet, and sang letter “K” song
• The children marble painted evergreen trees with bells while we sang “Jingle Bells”
• We practiced counting, number recognition, and 1:1 correspondence with an interactive Christmas counting book
• The children listened to a story about family traditions then we graphed everyone’s favorite
• We read an interactive color yellow book and completed a yellow coloring page
• The students made hand print reindeer to hang on a winter theme bulletin board in our classroom
• We practiced tracing lines and circles
• The students worked on building stamina during read to self time
• We had find motor Friday and practiced our fine motor skills with puzzles, pegs, and button tasks
