Poem of the week
Ladybug
Look! A red raindrop
Shimmering on a daisy
Has sprouted wings!
Fireflies
Tiny, twinkling stars
Play a game of hide-and-seek
by the backyard fence
Spider
Between two green stems
You spread your lace tablecloth
And prepare to dine

Poem of the week
Maytime Magic
A little seed
For me to sow …..
A little earth
To make it grow ….
A little hole,
A little pat ….
A little wish,
And that is that.
A little sun,
A little shower …
A little while,
And then — a flower!

This week was very short to start a new letter, so we used our time to review the letter U. We worked on our “That’s Your Letter U” mini-book. We learned new words that start with the letter U and we colored their pictures. Urchin, unicorn, unicycle, and uniform are examples of the words that we learned this week. We also reviewed our “My letter U book” that we finished last week. We had our umbrella poster outside our room to represent an example of our letter for this week, the letter U.
For our reading comprehension, we read “Spring Stinks” book, written by “Ryan T. Higgins”. We answered “What book did we read?” question.
For math, we used “5 Little ducks” book, illustrated by “Scott Barker” to learn how to count from 1-5, and we also learned about measurements.
Our kiddos visited the Gym, the Art, and the Music. They had a wonderful time visiting those rooms. To celebrate our beautiful mothers’ day, the explorers made such a beautiful hearts and posters to share with their mama:)

Poem of the week
Who?
Who lives inside a house
that doesn’t have a door?
It doesn’t have a window
or light inside, what’s more.
Who lives inside a house
with walls so frail and thin
that when he once comes out
he cannot go back in?

Letter U was our focus this past week. We worked on our mini letter U book in which we picked our pictures that start with this week’s letter, the letter U, and glued them inside. We also made an umbrella out of construction papers which represent our letter of the week, the letter U. We colored our letter U inside our notebooks, and we were creative in doing that. Our reading comprehension question was “What book did we read?”, therefore, we have been reading “ A Little Book About Spring” book, written by “Leo Lionni”. We are still practicing our core word “STOP”, and we have been reading “” Stop” Said the Cop” book.
We have been learning our opposites in math, while we learned about living or nonliving things in science.
The explorers visited the Gym, the music room, and the Art room, as well.
Our little kiddos from the Montessori school made us a beautiful surprise and visited us on Thursday to share some candies and balloons to celebrate and recognize Autism during the month of April.

Poem of the week
(for the love of our planet. Earth Day is on 04/22/2022)
Valentine for Earth
Oh, it will be fine to rocket through space
And see the reverse of the moon’s dark face,
To travel to Saturn or Venus or Mars,
Or maybe discover some uncharted stars.
But do they have anything better than we?
Do you think, for instance, they have a blue sea
For sailing and swimming?
Do the planets have hills with raspberry thickets
Where a song sparrow fills
The summer with music?
And do they have snow to silver the roads
Where the school buses go?
Oh, I’m all for rockets and worlds cold or hot,
But I’m wild in love With the planet we’ve got!

Letter T was our focus on this past week. We worked on our mini letter T book in which we picked our pictures that start with this week’s letter, the letter T, and glued them inside. We also made a tree  out of construction papers which represents our letter of the week, the letter T. We also had our poster posted outside our room to represent our letter of the week, the letter T. We colored our “That Is Letter T” book. Our reading comprehension question was “What book did we read?”, therefore, we have been reading “ A Little Book About Spring” book, written by “Leo Lionni”. We are still practicing our core word “STOP”, and we have been reading “”Stop” Said the Cop” book.
We have been learning our opposites in math, while we learned about living or nonliving things in science.
The explorers visited the Gym, the music room, and the Art room, as well.
Since the Earth Day is on 4/22, and for the love of our planet, the Earth, the explorers did a scavenger hunt this week. They visited other classrooms at Howe school and collected items that support different ways on how we can help our planet to stay clean, green, and available for all of us! Big thanks to all of the teachers who helped our students to enjoy their scavenger hunt, as well as big thanks to the teachers who accepted to invite us to their rooms but we couldn’t make it. Appreciate all of you 🙂

Letter S was our focus on this past week. We worked on our mini letter S book in which we picked our pictures that start with this week’s letter, the letter S, and glued them inside. We also made our S out of construction papers and picked our stars to glue them on top of our letter. We also had our poster posted outside our room to represent our letter of the week, the letter S. We colored our “I Saw Letter S” book. Our reading comprehension question was “What book did we read?”, therefore, we have been reading “ How to catch the Easter Bunny” story. We still practicing our core word “STOP”, and we have been reading “”Stop” Said the Cop” book.
We have been learning our opposites in math, while we learned about living or nonliving things in science.

Poem of the week
The Folk Who Live in Backward Town
The Folk Who Live in Backward Town
Are inside out and upside down.
They wear their hats inside their heads
And go to sleep beneath their beds.
They only eat the apple peeling
And take their walks across their ceiling.

What was Happening?
We focused on letter R for this whole past week. We made our rainbow out of construction papers that represents our letter of the week, the letter R. We also made our letter R mini-books. We picked our favorite items that start with the letter R and glued them on a poster that is placed outside our classroom.
This week, we started a new core word “stop”. For that purpose, we started on our book, “Stop”, said the cop”. Each one of the explorers now has a copy of this book to read with the family at home. Since it is Spring, therefore, for this week, we read “Don’t Push the Button! An Easter Surprise” book, by “Bill Cotter”. Our reading comprehension question was, “What book did we read?”. We also explored “Butch The Outdoor Cat” book, written by “Diane DeFord” and illustrated by “Pam Posey“, and we answered some comprehension questions about this book.
In math, we started “Opposite” concept. We played with different colors of die and cones.
In social studies, we talked about different holidays people celebrate in the United States and around the world, as well.
The explorers visited Music, Art, and Gym, and they had such a great and fun time during their activities with each other and with the staff, as well.
The most excited event we had this week was having the Exotic Zoo assembly. We had the chance to see such amazing and beautiful animals such as the owl, a cub, a kangaroo, a leopard, a turtle, and an alligator. Some of us were so happy to touch the animals, while some of us were very scared!
