Friday 4/4/2025

The Ch. 30 sec. 1-2 Questions were checked at the start of the hour. We continued to discuss Lenin and the USSR, and students completed the A New Era in the USSR questions. We also introduced Stalin and totalitarianism in the Soviet Union.

Thursday 4/3/2025

After answering questions about the Romanov family, we went over the major events of the Russian Revolutions. Students were then given time to work on the Ch. 30 sec. 1-2 Textbook Questions — due tomorrow.

Wednesday 4/2/2025

Students answered questions over a video on the Last Tsar of Russia, and then read an article on what happened to the Romanov family. They also used the Chromebooks to fill in a FERPA form.

Tuesday 4/1/2025

We went over some Social Studies prefixes, and learned about marshmallows. Students also completed the questions on Russia’s withdrawal from WWI.

Friday 3/21/2025

We discussed censorship during WWI, and then censored an example of a letter from the trenches. After watching a clip on life in the trenches, we censored the student’s written letters and discussed the results.

Thursday 3/20/2025

Vernal Equinox!

We discussed yesterday’s article on the Middle East and the Sykes-Picot Agreement at the start of class. Students then completed questions on a chart over America’s deadliest wars. They were then given time to write a “letter from the trenches.”

Wednesday 3/19/2025

Students took the CH. 29 Test in class. When they finished, they were given time to work on the “How the Middle East Got That Way” article and questions.

Tuesday 3/18/2025

The Ch. 29 sec. 4 Questions were checked and discussed. Students completed the WWI Peace Agreements handout and received a copy of the CH. 29 Study Guide. Ch. 29 Test tomorrow!

Monday 3/17/2025

We went over the answers to Friday’s Battle of the Somme handout, and then discussed the USA’s entry into WWI, including the Zimmerman Telegram. We also discussed the end of the war and the Spanish Flu. Students were then given time to work on the CH. 29 sec. 4 Textbook Questions — due tomorrow.

Pi Day!

Students watched the Ch. 29 sec. 3 Part 1 Textbook Talkie and the Ch. 29 sec. 3 Part 2 Textbook Talkie videos and answered the corresponding questions. They then answered questions over the Ch. 29 sec. 4 Textbook Talkie.
