Students used qualitative and quantitative data to describe a piece of candy. Students learned how to use a triple beam balance to find the mass of the candy. Students used a ruler to find the length, width and height of the candy.

The Resource Test was on Thursday, October 24th. The retake is on Thursday, October 31st. Students can take the test in Mr. Bailey’s class at 7:20 or in my class at 3:00. Students must follow the retake policy to be eligible for the retake.

Yesterday we completed a lab to discover how height effects energy. Below are several pictures from 5th and 6th hour completing the experiment.

Students will be having a test on Wednesday, October 23rd. Students have been learning about various types of renewable resources. Students also build a generator using human power. Students should understand the material on pages 7B through 12B in their Interactive Science Notebooks. Here are pictures of 4th hour completing the anchoring experience for the next lesson. As shown in the pictures, students dropped an egg from 1, 2 and 3 meters. Students then completed a chart with quantitative and qualitative data. This experience will be used when discovering “What causes the ptential energ within a system to change?”

Students have a 3-2-1 assignment due on Friday. The directions are as follows: After students read the article write the following:

3-2-1 READING STRATEGY

3    Write three science vocabulary words.  Next to each word write why it is important to the article.

2     Write two interesting facts found in the article.  Next to each fact explain why you picked the fact.  Examples of reasons you may have picked the fact could be: the fact was interesting, creative, disgustin, entertainint, informative. Describe why the fact was interesting, creative, disgustin, entertainint, informative.

1    Write one summary of the article. Summary should be 4-6 sentences.  The summary should include a topic sentence, details and a summary sentence.

Below are pictures of students problem solving in order to light a light bulb with only a magnet, wire, a nail and a light bulb. All students were successful and should be able to explain this to an adult at home.

Retake is Wednesday. To be eligible for the retake all students must print test, have test signed and give me a note telling when you will be taking the test (Wednesday morning or after school), how you studied and correct errors on the test. This needs to be given to me tomorrow during class.
