Advisory Activity
Today in advisory, after reviewing the PBIS matrix, my advisory had an opportunity to work together to untangle themselves. Below are pictures showing students working cooperatively and having fun.






BUILDING PAPER TOWERS
Students were using Constraints and Criteria to build towers. Students were learning that having specific instructions helped them build the towers.





September 16, 2019
Students were asked to draw a model of a system in class last Thursday. That model was a summative grade. Students have the opportunity to redo the model either in the morning at 7:20 in Mr. Bailey’s classroom, or after school in my classroom. The diagram should only take 20 minutes to complete. Students who wish to complete the retake must follow the retake policy. The retake policy is on this blog, was talked about in class 3 times. discussed at open house and was sent home in a brochure.

Today in class we discussed what good models should include. We also read about annotating text. Students received an ANNOTATION DIRECTION paper which was to be glued into their ISN on page B of their appendix.
Students have an article about Modeling which is to be read and annotated like was modeled in class today. Below are copies of the Modeling article and the Annotating Text directions.
September 4, 2019
Today students worked to discover how to figure out how complicated systems work. Students used rope tying as the complicated system.
Below students are working together to follow a variety of directions to tie a knot.



SEPTEMBER 3, 2019
Students used today to organizer their 100 page composition notebook. Students started with a the purpose and the norms of the Interactive Science Notebook (ISN). After that students added 5 pages of table of contents and then numbered the first 12 pages. Students will use this notebook for all science work. Below is the first page which shows the purpose and the norms for the ISN.

August 29, 2019
On Thursday, we completed an exercise in working in cooperative groups. Students needed to build a Lego robot by listening to group members.
