Today in class we took a QUIZ about colleges and social media.

HW:

Complete the VETERAN/VETERINARIAN Venn diagram in your composition book (page #5).

Then on loose leaf, write a brief thank you letter to a vet.

The letter should be one good paragraph.  Don’t make it too long.

HW:

MAKE YOUR OWN HOMEWORK!

HINT: It should probably be something about social media and the article we read in class today.

The article was called “Colleges are watching your social media behavior”.

ANOTHER HINT: If you can’t think of any homework, here’s an idea … neatly cut off the edges of the “Annotation Marks” book mark.  Neatly color code each mark (each mark should be a different color). Glue the bookmark onto a stronger piece of paper such as cardboard or glue the bookmark into your ELA folder.

FINAL HINT: Do NOT just watch Netflix and scream out every time you hear a word you don’t know.

HW:

I’ll keep this very simple.

Walk (walk is a verb) around your house.  List at least 27 nouns that you see while you’re walking.

Try not to include adjectives.  Example: Don’t write “green chair”.  Just write “chair”. Green is an adjective.

HINTS:

  • You are welcome to list MORE than 27.
  • Chair is kind of boring.  Just saying.

Welllllll.  I don’t really have anything to post on the blog tonight.

But I did say that students should check the blog every night, so I guess I should write SOMETHING.

Something.

Hahahahahaha.  I wrote the word “something.”

But no.  Seriously.  I think I mispelled a word.  You could at least e-mail me my mistake for an easy polar point.

NOUNS.

HW:

Click below to view and print the homework sheet.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PAGE BEFORE YOU START YOUR HW!!! READ CAREFULLY!

If you can’t print, write the sentences on loose leaf.

HW:

COMPOSITION BOOK page #1

“What is your worst nightmare?”

HINT: Staple or paper clip all the pages we did during report card 1 so that you can easily flip to page #1 for report card 2.

HW:

  1. Find the sports. (We started this in class.)
  2. Hide the sports. (on the back)

Many years ago when I was only TEN years old, I was walking with a BOX full of ICE, and my FOOT got caught in a RUG, and I tripped and fell, and my face landed in a BOWL of hot HORSE hair soup.

TENNIS

BOXING

ICE HOCKEY

FOOTBALL

RUGBY

KEEP STUDYING!  (the yellow hambooger paper)

HINT: Bring me proof that you studied.

COMING SOON:

QUIZ!

  1. Study.
  2. Study.
  3. Study some more.

HINT: Study the yellow paper that we worked on in class today.  Then give yourself a practice quiz at home.  Try drawing the hamburger shape and filling in all the correct words WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE YELLOW PAPER.  Grade your practice quiz so you can see which parts you still need to study.  This only works if you are very honest.  Seriously.  Don’t look at the yellow paper when you are trying the quiz at home.

E.L.A. 7                                 SPORTS TEAM                                                  WRITING ASSIGNMENT

Imagine that one day, a few years from now, you become rich and become the owner of a professional sports team. (basketball, football, baseball, or hockey, or be creative)

Please write a creative, interesting description of your sports team.

Remember to describe

  • WHAT SPORT the team will play
  • WHERE the team will play (what city? what stadium? indoor? outdoor?)
  • WHAT the team jersey will LOOK LIKE
  • WHO will play on the team
  • and, of course, the team’s NAME

Remember: SHOW not TELL and details, details, details.

  1. First, write a rough draft on loose leaf. Please skip lines for the rough draft. Your rough draft should be AT LEAST one page (skipping lines) but more than one page is probably better.
  2. Read through your draft. Use colored pencils to REVISE your rough draft. You should make at least three improvements to your rough draft.
  3. On a new sheet of loose leaf, write a final copy. You should take your time and use your best handwriting for your final copy. DO NOT SKIP LINES! Please try to fit your final copy on the FRONT only of the loose leaf.
  4. Neatly staple your final copy on top of your rough draft.

HINT: Your rough draft and final copy are due IN CLASS! Please get right to work and do not waste time in class. This assignment is worth AT LEAST 10 points, probably more.

 HOMEWORK:

For a little bit of extra credit, you may draw a picture of your team jersey. Please take your time and make the picture neat and colorful. You may draw a player wearing your jersey or just the jersey alone. (5 points)
