This was today’s bell work that kind of turned into today’s class work:
WRITE SOURCE (grade 7)
Carefully read and study page 684.
Then try at least THREE of the sentences from page 685 on loose leaf.
HINT: It won’t hurt your grade to do more than three. 🙂
HW:
COMPOSITION BOOK PAGE #4
Title:
“The WORST Thing That Ever Happened to Me in Elementary School”
I checked over the students’ HW – conclusion paragraphs. If approved, they copied onto the official conclusion paper.
Students who did not do the HW lost 10 points and copied from yesterday’s blog.
HW: NONE 🙂
We are swimming in an immense ocean of screens. Many teens are nearly DROWNING in this ocean. It’s wasting kids’ and teenager’s time and is leading to many unhealthy habits. I believe that technology is out of control and teens must take action now to make sure they are in control, not their phones.
~ by Rami Bazzi
HINT: Right up there is a great example of how to write paragraph 5. DO NOT COPY RAMI’S, but you could use his as an example and rewrite it using your own words.
We continued working on our argumentative essay focusing mostly on paragraph 3 (argument 2 – the meat of the hamburger).
HW:
COMPOSITION BOOK PAGE #3
QUESTION: “Is Football Too Dangerous?”
HINT: Answer using S.A.R. pattern. You must give AND EXPLAIN at least 2 reasons to support your opinion. It definitely won’t hurt your grade to color code the different parts of your answer to prove you used S.A.R.
Carefully read “It’s Not All About the Bike” by Lance Armstrong
(page 816 in the 7th grade ELA book)
On loose leaf, neatly copy the 6 sentences from the bottom of page 815 and fill in the blanks with the correct word. (VOCAB – green triangle)
HINT: Use context clues from the story to help you figure out the meanings.
Today in class we drafted the paragraph 1 (introduction) and paragraph 2 (argument 1 – waste of time) of our argumentative essay.
HW:
TRY paragraph 3 (argument 2 – unhealthy) on loose leaf. Remember to keep looking back at the green hamburger and your organizer to help you. If you are stuck, try re-reading paragraph 2 (argument 1 – waste of time) as an example to help you.
HW:
Choose ONE of the roots from Monday’s BW. On loose leaf, write the root as your title. Then list 5 words that have that root. Don’t forget to also write the definitions of the words.
Click below to see some possible answers for root word “BIO” (life).
https://www.membean.com/wrotds/bio-life
CW: Choose ONE mid-winter packet question that you answered incorrectly. Write the question and all four possible answers on loose leaf. Use a colored pencil and QAR to correctly answer the question on the loose leaf. On the back of the loose leaf, neatly copy your proof from the story/article.
Because of NWEA testing, I reduced the homework to only one simple task.
HW:
Show your blue progress report to a parent. Ask a parent to sign your blue progress report. Bring your signed, blue progress report to class tomorrow.
