I don’t like to give quizzes on Mondays or Fridays.

If you’re not sure how to study, start with answering #3 from page 43 on loose leaf. If that seems too easy, try #5.

HW:

  1. PORTFOLIO (for report card #1) – Ask mom or dad to sign in the CORRECT location on your final report. Bring the WHOLE portfolio to class tomorrow. Students who came to parent/teacher conferences don’t have to do this HW.
  2. Finish all 8 “Hot Work” questions. Use QAR.
  3. WARNING: Huge quiz next week about “Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto. I will be posting the whole story on the blog. Today in class you were supposed to read and annotate pages 41 and 42.

SUPER DUPER EASY EXTRA CREDIT! Bring your Lowrey picture ID card to class tomorrow.

“I will drop you and your cat off at the humane society!” she screamed at her super annoying little brother.

CW:

  • On loose leaf, neatly copy “Hot Work” question #5. Make sure you copy the question AND all four choices (A, B, C, and D). Skip one line after each choice.
  • Switch to a color pencil and cross off one of the choices and EXPLAIN WHY you crossed it off.
  • Find evidence in the text for the answer you think is correct. On the bottom part of your loose leaf, copy the EXACT words from the text that prove your answer – use a regular pencil for this part.
  • Switch back to a color pencil and write the QAR to the LEFT of the question (RT or TS or AM).
  • NOW CIRCLE THE ANSWER ON YOUR LOOSE LEAF.

Latisha stood nervously on the stage. She had to sing well to impress the talent scout. She took a deep breath and stopped. The microphone was off. She began again. Her voice soared. Later, the talent scout said, “We’d like to offer you a contract.”

[loose leaf or computer paper]

Turn the paper on it’s side (horizontally).  Draw the mountain. Label each part of the mountain then write the matching information from the short story about Latisha. No need for color or crazy shapes, but please be neat.

Also, I made an embarrassing punctuation mistake that no ELA teacher should ever make. E-mail me to explain what I did wrong in the first sentence of the instructions.

OMO must die!

Do you know why? Be ready to tell me tomorrow in class.

HW: Destroy the OMO corner of your QAR paper. Be creative. Bring evidence to class tomorrow. Do NOT harm RT or TS or AM.

Please do not do anything dangerous without your parents’ permission and supervision.

If you’re not sure how to do this HW, just take a sharp pencil and poke a lot of holes in the ON MY OWN corner of your QAR paper.

One of the answers for #1 is “hero”.

So today I am NOT writing the directions for the HW on the blog.  I want to see if you were paying attention in class.

Do NOT make flashcards at home.  That is NOT the HW.

CW:

On page 4 in your composition book, create a T-chart that shows connections between the story and your life. On the left list things that happen in the story (with page numbers). On the right, explain how something in your life connects. You should have at least 6 from the story and 6 connections from your own life.

one from page 36

two from page 38

two from page 39

one from page 40

If you’re still not sure how to do this, you might want to read the blue square section from page 35 in the ELA 7 Literature book.

Hello. Hello? HELLO?!

Is this thing on?

Does anyone read this?

Well if you read this blog, prove it.  On loose leaf, draft a SHORT paragraph about a place you would like to travel to (like Victor would like to travel to France). Give and explain 2-3 reasons why you would like to travel there. Please use neat handwriting or type it on a computer.

Casually drop this assignment in the correct box BEFORE A2 starts on Monday, October 17, 2016.  YES … it will count as extra credit on report card #1.  YOU’RE WELCOME!

I will be checking the final tests and adding the points on StudentConnect throughout the day today.  See you tomorrow. 🙂

ALL MISSING WORK FOR REPORT CARD #1 IS DUE TOMORROW!

Tomorrow is a half day of school.
