MAKE SURE YOU CLICK ON THE TEXT AND LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE HIGHLIGHTED!
This is how you should start your paragraph (claim):
“Before he was kidnapped, Buck lived a comfortable and confident life.”
EVIDENCE 1: paragraph 2 “Buck imagined was merely a stroll”
REASONING: Buck was used to taking enjoyable walks with the Judge and the boys.
EVIDENCE 2: paragraph 5 “in his pride believing that to intimate was to command”
REASONING: Buck could command others with just a look.
EVIDENCE 3: paragraph 6 “unbridled anger of a kidnapped king”
REASONING: Buck believed he was royalty and his rage was because he couldn’t believe anyone would dare to kidnap a king.
EVIDENCE 4: paragraph 17 “Several times during the night he sprang to his feet when the shed door rattled open, expecting to see the Judge, or the boys at least.”
REASONING: Buck had a very good relationship with the Judge and the boys and was happy when he saw them.
When you write your answer, you should probably use EVIDENCE 1 OR 4 to prove Buck’s life was comfortable and EVIDENCE 2 AND 3 to prove Buck’s life was confident.
The packet says to give at least THREE details from the passage.
Don’t forget to restate your claim at the end of your paragraph.
Don’t forget citation! Give the author and page number in parentheses after each evidence.
