If I see you quietly focusing and studying THE WHOLE HOUR, you could win a nice prize. The prize is you WILL NOT have to take the quiz tomorrow. You will earn FULL POINTS. You may have quiet free time the whole hour (only one student per hour can win this valuable prize).
HOW TO STUDY:
- Carefully and slowly read the paragraphs on the top part of page 30 in the ELA LIT book. Many people study the mountain but forget to read the paragraphs. Pay special attention to the bold words.
- Make quick (but neat) flash cards for each part of the mountain. Make sure you write BOTH bullets for each part. Study your cards.
- Spelling counts! Take a few minutes to practice spelling the 5 parts of the mountain – DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN 7 MINUTES FOR THIS!
- Close the book. BE HONEST! Draw the mountain and label each part and write the bullets (in your own words) WITHOUT LOOKING IN THE BOOK.
- For a real challenge, read the short story, “Goodbye, Falcon”, then draw the mountain and write in the events of the story into the correct parts of the mountain.
- You may have a five minute bathroom break after half the class time has passed, BUT ONLY if you have been seriously studying.
IF YOU FEEL YOU’RE DONE STUDYING, MOVE ON TO CW2:
Choose any word EXCEPT “scowl” from pages 36-40 in “Seventh Grade” and complete a word sketch sheet. The best work will be displayed in the hallway on top of the lockers. If your work is displayed, it’s an automatic polar point for you.
EXTRA CREDIT 1:
Don’t draw a mountain. Think of something else that has a SIMILAR shape as a mountain. Neatly draw the shape and label all five parts. Then neatly add a small amount of color.
EXTRA CREDIT 2: In a group of AT LEAST 3, speak, sing, or rap in perfect UNISON. Your performance must last at least 30 seconds.
